Okay. Wow. Don't even know how to start this one.

I'm on a mission, you guys. This household has been living on raw vegetable and prepackaged stuff and instant soup for way too long. So, since it's not like I work or anything, and D does, I figured I should go about figuring out how to cook.

Nova's been giving me lessons because she is awesome ( Read more... )

Dude, Want, are you seriously trying to learn how to cook? Insert inappropriate comment about your domestic bliss. Cause if you are, um, I can show you how to make soup? Granted, Raise and I never got around to actually eating any of it, but it seemed harmless enough. Not really gourmet cooking, but I figure it's something, right?

You. Cannot. Be serious. Please don't tell me you two are going to get all fisticuffs on me.

I'm not at gourmet cooking level anyway. A recipe that's like "throw things in a pot and leave it alone" would be perfect right now. Yes, I am seriously learning to cook. I am freaking Martha Stewart over here. Is this a problem?

There aren't going to be fisticuffs unless he makes me. But I don't have a choice.

Then you and me are on the same page, dude, cause that's about where I'm at at the moment. I'm pretty sure that your kitchen isn't outfitted for even the basic stuff, though. Your welcome to borrow some of our stuff, or, we can go scrounge all Scavenger Yard like sometime, the way I did with ours. Though, I suppose if you want to take the whole I'm a domestic now, guys seriously you could feasibly scour the Marketplace for a vendor of some kind. Does this mean you get to prance around the apartment in an apron or something? Cause if that's on the agenda, I'm so hanging out at your place more often.

He's just being...um...friendly. In his own way. Should I even ask what this is about?

I... All of that sounds great? It's true that we don't really have a lot of the stuff that, like, recipes tell you to use, so I've been doing a lot of improvising. But I'd like to get better equipped. If I'm gonna do this seriously.

But what you're saying is I can stop by if I need a cup of sugar, huh? I don't have a measuring cup and you expect an apron? PS. That is not an invitation to find me an apron.

Because British and I have soooo much we could talk about.

Certainly, Want! This is one of the best virtues of being part of the human race. We have such things as vocal chords and language. You need only learn to use them!

I do hope that answers your question.

Argent.

Don't. Start.

Start? I start nothing. I only answer questions when asked, as always.

You know that's not what he meant, G. Don't play coy.

If you can get the spices I've god some interesting recipes--Flight is useless in the kitchen and I'd rather not see our house burn down, so I copied a few things from one of the cookbooks at the store.

A simple one is curry you can make in around thirty to forty minutes, and it's pretty good. There are even tomatoes in it, just for your room mate.

That sounds great, Crow! We, yeah, definitely have tomatoes around, so I'd love to find a way to use them. But everything I do seems to turn them into... tomato sauce, tomato sauce or tomato sauce.

And I don't want to risk Drake's wrath by messing with them too much.

It's a fairly adaptable recipe. And makes good use of tomatoes, potatoes and other things. I suggest making rice to eat along with it.

Hopefully Drake will approve their use in curry.

[The recipe and instructions are copied out in Crow's writing (And if you like I can find it later and share it because it is REALLY good curry)]

Grilled fish is always good, and pretty simple to prepare. And then there's always omelets, or pancakes. I don't think those are too hard to make.

PROTEIN.

I mean.

Those sound good, B. And easy! Though I suppose for pancakes, I might have to scrounge up one of those... flipping doodads? For turning things over? And it wouldn't be the same without syrup. I wonder if they sell that in the market.

Man, now I'm going to be craving pancakes for the rest of the night.

Who needs pancakes when waffles are far superior?

Doesn't that take a special grill or something, though? What're the chance of finding one of those here of all places? Unless you know of somewhere to get that kind of stuff, nudge nudge.

I've found that I am quite skilled at blending different components together. I believe it was called alchemy...

But I've managed to bring together some lovely food ideas. You can borrow the cookbook I've compiled so far?

Sounds like what we used to call chemistry? Unless I'm missing some subtle distinction there.

But that'd be great! Thank you! ...How, uh, advanced are these recipes?

Some might be a little complicated to the average bachelor, but there are simpler recipes as well.

I will place page tabs to categorize those that are cheaper to procure as well.
