Wait a minute you're expecting a random number generator to give you a consistent pattern? Besides the fact that time seems to mean nothing in here. In any case I've seen the machine reference both six and eight hours IIRC.

I am almost positive the last time the Warden ended lockdown it said "after eight hours". At least one and probably two times before that it said "after six hours". At least that's how I remember it. You could verify by looking to see if there's a record of what the Warden said each morning on your laptop maybe.
I doubt the Warden will give a straight answer. To be unable to know how long one has been here is a mind game, it puts pressure and confusion on a mind used to being able to regulate their actions. Even the ability to tell time is a form of self-control, taking it away causes dependency and uncertainty.
