She goes to Andy, of course she does. Everyone knows that if you want quality, you go to Andy.
“Victoria, always a pleasure,” he says, greeting her warmly. They’re not exactly close friends, but it’s impossible to stay strangers for long at Unmarked Place. Andy is not Family, Victoria doesn’t think he’s even really that into the scene, but he does have an excellent reputation.
“What can I get you today?” Andy asks. This isn’t the first time Victoria has popped into his shop to purchase something.
She hesitates, wavering. Not because she’s unsure, she’s not, it’s just that this is a big thing. “I want a collar.” Her mouth feels dry and there’s a nervous flutter at the bottom of her stomach. She has to grip the counter for support.
“Okay,” Andy smiles and pulls out a display case. “Well, I’ve got several here that-”
“No,” Victoria interrupts, laying a hand on Andy’s arm. “I want a Collar.” She holds his gaze, pouring her heart into the words. “For Nate.”
“Oh,” Andy says and his smile deepens, turns into genuine delight. “Well, you better come and sit down then. We can talk about specifications.”
Victoria follows him to the backroom, already digging for her notes and sketches. She knows exactly what she wants; how she wants the collar to look and who she wants to be wearing it. The only thing she doesn’t know for sure is whether Nate will accept it. But she hopes.
Oh, how she hopes.
