On July 5th me and Anna (a good friend of mine) started off to our holidays in Berlin. It was our 5th vacation together (and we still like each other! xD).
Travelling went smoothly and we arrived quite early. After taking a short break at the hotel, we started our sightseeing tour. Because we didn't have a clue about the Metro-stuff we mainly walked this day (about 10km for sure!). First place on our list was "Checkpoint Charlie" and from there we moved on to the "Potsdamer Platz" and the "Sony Center".
The upcoming 2 days were rather cool (temperature wise) and we decided to visit all the main sightseeing-spots at the beginning. So there was "Berliner Dom", "Brandenburger Tor", "Rotes Rathaus", "Siegessäule", "Madame Tussauds" etc etc etc. I swear, our feet and backs hurt like hell after those exhausting tours (cuz YES! we were walking ALL THE TIME!). So thanks Anna for the back massages every evening =)
The next couple of days were rather HOT *still sweats when thinking of it*. So we decided to take it easy and just visit SOME places and use the Metro for once xD Funny story:
We were strolling around the "Tiergarten", which is a HUGE park and really nice. When you're in there you have the feeling of not being in the city, but out in the wide nature :) Well, because of the football World Championship the police told us, that the entrance from the main street is a bit difficult (cuz there were like barriers so people wouldn't go in and use the nature as their bathroom *eeewww*) but exiting should be no problem. AHA?! Well...for us entering the park was easy, but getting out was the problem. There were these barriers...I mean EVERYWHERE!! Kilometers and kilometers of barriers!!! Anna and I felt like an animal in a zoo. We were following those barriers for about 10min, hoping there would be an exit somewhere...........NOPE! Well...Fuck it! In the end we climbed over it (Anna is afraid of heights and had a short dress on xDD).
The last three days were just TOO HOT! I mean: DAMN! I'm used to quite a lot of heat (I was in Dubai in the middle of August and I didn't care),but THIS was just too much to take.
- 1st day: Shopping! Cuz you know, shops have those nice machines called air-conditioner. Aaah! What a relieve. Not just for me, but also for my wallet x___X In the evening we took a small boat trip on the Spree (river through Berlin). So nice! <3
- 2nd day: Went to a public swimming pool. I've NEVER seen anything like this x__X Holy crap! The pool was full of people....and I mean FULL. Head next to head next to head! Anyway, we could sit in the shadow with little clothes on and take a cold shower every now and then. Fine enough for me ;) And OF COURSE we had to watch the Championship-Finale in the evening ---> YAY for Espana! <33 BOOOOOOH for the Netherlands! -.-'
- 3rd and last day: We originally wanted to visit the "East Side Gallery". Well....at 46°C? Not so much....So we went shopping again xD I bought my new pair of shoes
(could've bought many more - cuz I'm a shoe-addict - but my money was all gone xDD)
Pictures of Berlin are coming! :)
I'm travelling to Austria tomorrow (family visiting, funeral and wellness - what a combination^^'). I'll be back on Tuesday.
So that's it. Long entry and not too interesting, but I wanted to post it for myself anyway ;P
