"What are you doing here?" Uruha jerked as he saw the blond bassist in his living room, sprawled out over his couch with a beer in his hand.
He didn't look up, obviously embarrassed about his reasons. "Ruki is bitching."
"He kicked you out, huh." He clutched the small plastic bag closer to his chest, one hand hiding which shop it came from.
"Yeah, because I cooked his breakfast egg a minute too long." He shook his head and then put his forehead on his palm. "He'll calm down, eventually, right?"
"You know he has his fits every now and then." He walked past his friend, a little too stiff, a little too rushed, but Reita was to lost in his worried thoughts to notice. He looked up as he heard the bathroom door clicked shut, though.
"Everything okay with you?" He called out. Something was off, he could read it in the sound of the lock.
"Just give me a minute." I don't know yet.
Unpacking his purchase, he felt a knot form in his throat. He opened the box, his hands sweaty. Not only that he had to go through the agony of this idea worming into his mind, he had to actually go out to buy one of those tests. At least the pharmacist had been nice to him, no judging glance, just a smile like he was trying to cheer him up. He could feel his frown dig a line into his forehead. Not good. Still, nothing was certain.
Dropping his pants he sat down on the toilet, holding the little white device between his fingers. Just a little urine and he's know in less then three minutes.
He was scared.
He kept his ears perked, listening to the muffled sound of the TV program Reita watched, trying to make out any footsteps. He didn't want to be seen right now. He didn't want anyone to know.
He placed it on the sink and watched how the liquid soaked deeper into the device, how the first line appeared. There was a faint blush of the second one, the one he dreaded. He closed his eyes, afraid to look, maybe it was only showing because it's wet, right? he opened his eyes again. No. Dark red, perfectly visible.
A cold shiver ran down his spine, setting off heat to rush on it's tracks. He felt his belly churn and put a hand above it. He was afraid for his own wellbeing, that he might throw up and afraid it might harm this little something inside of him. Inside of him. The mere thought was making his knees go week.
Hastily, he pulled up his jeans and stuffed everything into the plastic bag again. He felt bad. He had been around smokers all the time. He tried to remember how much and when he drank. What he had eaten. What was in his fridge and cupboards to eat today. He felt guilty.
His heart skipped a beat as he heard the doorbell ring.
"I'll get it!" He heard Reita run for the door, hoping it might be Ruki, of course.
"Oh, hi Hiroto-kun."
No, not him, not now, please!
"You sound disappointed, were you expecting someone else?"
"Sort of."
Laughter, friendly, such a contrast to the turmoil inside of the tall guitarist.
"He's in the bathroom."
"Thank you."
Boots were dropped, a leather jacket hung up, socked foots tapping closer. Uruha took a deep breath and unlocked the door and opened in a creek.
"Hey there, pretty, I brought breakfast." Holding up a tray of coffee and paper bag filled with western, sweet bakery. His smile disappeared as their eyes met. "Something wrong?" He put his goods down on a stack of towels and reached for Uruha. "Your hands are all cold." Spotting the pharmacy logo, his grip turned a little tighter. "Are you sick? Jeez, you're pale, come on, go to bed."
Uruha couldn't respond anything, he couldn't press his voice past the knot in his throat. It hurt. It stung in his eyes, he felt like he was about to cry.
"Uruha?" He reached up to feel his forehead, checking on his temperature. "Tell me, what's wrong?"
He wasn't able to withhold that look, that honest care and worry for him, so he pulled out the test from the bag. The positive test. "I'm sorry." His voice was barely audible.
"Sorry? What for?" He took the white piece and turned it around.
Uruha could see how the question about what it is changed. The frown changed into a gape. His hand let go. His eyes grew wide.
"I'm sorry, Hiroto." He cradled his own hands against his chest. "This is my fault. I guess I was too drunk or too lazy or too carefree and now I'm - I'm -"
The smaller stopped him by wrapping his arms around his middle. "Ssh, calm down."
"I'm sorry." He was tense all over and couldn't stop thinking about what this might do to - let's face it - his baby.
"You don't need to be sorry." He tried to sooth the muscles on Uruha's back. "You don't have to be afraid."
"But you don't want to have kids." Uruha wriggled his hands out from between their bodies to embrace the other.
"Why, who said that?"
"Well, Suzume-chan..."
"I'm not in love with Aki and he never wanted me to stay with him. He's fine by himself."
Uruha stayed silent for a while. "I'm not ready to be a mother."
"You'll do great."
"I'm untidy."
"So I'll clean up."
"You would?"
"I love you."
Silence. Uruha's arms tightened, he was shaking. His head sunk onto Hiroto's shoulder. "You don't have to say this just because I'm pregnant."
"I mean it. I know we never spoke about us being in a solid relationship, to settle down, have a family. The first time I held a guitar I knew this is right, this is what I'm going to be. I feel the same about you." He stroked the blond's hair.
"You're unbelievable." He shook his head, his strands tickling Hiroto's neck.
"So what do you say?" The brunette asked, placing a peck on the other man's cheek.
This wasn't bad. He thought about it for a while. He was loosening up, feeling the tender caress on his back and scalp. He'd have to change a little from now on. Take care of himself and let Hiroto take care of him. "I say breakfast."
