He couldn't even hold his pencil upright anymore. Ruki was tired and the joints in his fingers sore and stiff. He tried to sit up properly, to lean his back against the couch, but he had been bent over his notes for far too long already. He was exhausted, physically, mentally. He pulled off his glasses, dropping them onto the table to massage the bridge of his nose. Looking around, he found pages, so many pages, with notes he couldn't even remember writing half of them.
For how long did he write?
Reita noticed the lack of soft paper rustling and put down his game controller after a quick save. He had been playing on mute, giving Ruki space to think, enjoying the almost-silence telling him he was home.
"What time is it?" A worn out voice asked from behind.
"Around four in the morning." Reita answered, getting up. He stretched half-heartedly and switched the TV and console off.
Ruki was still hunched over his work, eyes dreading to fall shut any second, shoulders hanging weak. His head felt heavy, still loaded with inspiration weighing him down.
Arms wound around him, one beneath his knees, the other around his shoulders. "Why don't you get some rest?"
He couldn't help it; his head fell against Reita's chest, eyes already closing. "This is ridiculous." Ruki mumbled. He felt his oversized cardigan swing as Reita carried him, walking slowly towards their bedroom. He even heard Koron's tiny paws walking along with Reita. "Why are you doing this?"
Reita snorted. "You know why."
Ruki relaxed, a long sigh slowly draining his lungs. He actually liked this, to be taken care of. "Sorry for yelling at you today."
He put him down on the bed, soft sheets rustling as Ruki curled up on his side, facing Reita, who was pulling off his tank top.
"It's okay." The blond smiled. "It was yesterday, anyway." Jogging pants pooled around ankles and were left on the floor. Ruki was too tired to scold him about it, right?
"Some people call you an idiot for being with me, you know." One of Ruki's hands was gripping the pillow in a tight grasp.
"You do that a lot, too." Reita sat down on their bed, lifting the blanket to slip beneath, covering Ruki's body at the same time. Koron already settled in his basket, his ears moving every now and then.
"Yes, but I have the right to say that," With what little energy he had left, Ruki turned, his forehead pressed against Reita's warm upper arm. "They don’t." He placed a kiss on the other's shoulder. "Because I love you."

I don’t think I ever wrote a calm Ruki who wasn’t already asleep. This is awkwardly soft.
