Welcome, Rules & Guidelines
Welcome to unniesanta! Sign-ups will open tomorrow (or as soon as I get the post formatted and typed up). This post will be updated as the week goes on with more information, such as how to format your final drafts for posting. The dates listed below are not absolutely set in stone; they will be finalised by the time sign-ups open.
How It Works
This is a Secret Santa exchange, so each participant will be asked to write a fic and each participant will receive a fic in return. Posting will be anonymous, so please make sure to keep the fic you're writing a secret until reveals go up! That means NO POSTING snippets on the meme or in any public place, including your friends list at large. In addition, all fics must be beta-read. If you need help finding a beta, contact one of the mods and we will be happy to assist you.
Important Dates to Remember
Sign-ups : Oct 11 to Oct 25
Assignments sent out : Oct 31
First draft due : Nov 20 (update)
Final draft due : Dec 18
Posting : Dec 25 - Jan 5
Reveals : Jan 12
Given that this is an exchange and not a challenge, please keep the due dates in mind when signing up. If you need to drop out, do it early, and let us know. If we don't receive a first draft from you and we don't hear from you within a week of the first draft deadline, we will assign your request to a pinch hitter and your fic, should you finish it and send it in, will not be posted as a filled request. This is to ensure that the pinch hitters' work will not be in vain. Also, the final draft deadline is not flexible. We must hear from you personally before the final draft deadline if you need an extension. Otherwise your request will be assigned to a pinch hitter.
Given that fandom tends to like an actual timestamp on these deadlines: please have your drafts/fics/requests for extensions in before midnight EST on the given dates.

It'll be organised more effectively for greater ease in both reading and filling it out, but that's the information we will be collecting from you. We will match requests and writers as best we can, but please keep in mind we can't promise to assign you a request with a pairing you are 100% comfortable with. The girlgroup side of fandom is very small and quite varied, and most of the time our likes and dislikes don't overlap all that well. If you receive a request you're not quite sure how to write, try to think of it as an exercise in expanding your repertoire. We will not switch requests for you unless it was clearly an error on our part (for example, your recipient only likes S.E.S, Dambi, and Sistar, and you don't know any of those).
Fic Guidelines
Each filled request must be at least 1000 words long and must adhere as closely as possible to the specifics of the request. That means you need to stay within the range of requested ratings (i.e. don't write porn if your requester doesn't ask for it) and you need to stick to the requested pairing. It's fine if you have a side pairing, but the main pairing must match. (Acceptable: mostly Jessica/Tiffany with side of Hyoyeon/Jessica to fill a request for JeTi. Unacceptable: mostly CL/Dara with a little G-Dragon/CL to fill a request for GD/CL.)
You may write multiple fics for your request as long as each fic is a minimum of 400 words. That means you may write one, two, or three fics (or more, we're not stopping you!) for your requester in order to reach your minimum total of 1000 words. Three fics obviously results in a greater minimum total of 1200 words; no, we will not except fills of three fics that only reach 1000 words. Yes, we will check.
If you feel you need more information from your recipient or you absolutely need to ask them something, PM or email one of the mods and we will contact them for you. Be specific as to what kind of information you need.
More About the First Draft & Dropouts
Your first draft does not have to be a complete rough draft of what your fic will look like, nor does it have to be html-formatted for LJ. All we need to see is that you have something and that it's substantial enough for you to finish in time. If you like what you have but don't think you'll be able to finish in time and you don't mind handing it off to someone else to finish for you, let us know and we'll arrange for a pinch hitter to take on your fic. This goes for any and all dropouts: please let us know if you are willing to let the pinch hitter who takes over for you finish what you already have written. This does not mean they will choose to do so; it merely allows us to offer them an option that is potentially less stressful and will hopefully help them write a better fic for their recipient.
