First of all, good choice of movies (if you need any more zombie flick recommendations, just let me know).
Secondly, this made me realise that I never gave a true zombie infestation a serious thought. Like the movies a mall seems like a good place (though they might be drawn to one and we don't really have one in Holland do we? There's Ikea but yeah.. =S) or else something like an island (which must be uninhabited in the first place or else it's quite futile prolly).
I like the shutters idea, but I reckon the sink is a bit shaky, since noone will be watching the water plant if there's really an infestation.
A good spot might be the place (distribution center?) where supermarkets get their stuff, since it will be packed with food and the entries/exits will have some proper locks. Good show on the pyrotechnics.. perhaps some molotov cocktails for some more range might be an idea as well. ^^
