well I guess I can only say, yes you're right, it's hard, scary, intimidating, competitive, and it doesn't get easier (at least until May 1). The only helpful thing I can tell you is that your job this summer (or lack thereof) really doesn't matter. Do what you feel like doing, I promise, there really isn't an expectation that you do something special from the admissions department. No matter what you do, especially if it's nothing, you can easily frame it make it sound like a part of what you want to do (if it even ever comes up, which I doubt it will). I know it doesn't seem this way, but it's really just not that big of a deal, so at least you don't have to worry about that. Everything else, ya, it sucks, but you can do it!
i know that this year is wicked stressful, but if it makes you feel any better, i am worrying about the same exact things. so many people put so much pressure on finding the right college, that the search loses all of its appeal. i know maura that where ever you end up, you will be very happy. you have a lot of things going for you, and dont need to worry about all the finer details of school.. personally, i have been blocking out all the sat requirements, fees, housing, and the opinions of everyone when it comes to choosing the right school.. i have just been looking to see where i would be happy. but dont worry my dear, you will eventually find the perfect school! love ya!
wow there Cherry, I'd have to say the whole guidance counselor thing is probably a good path for ya. It's pretty awesome that you've figured out what you like, I'm sure you'll do great. good luck to you too m'dear
