what are all of the sci-fi/fantasy books, movies, and what-not do i need to have read/watched in order to call myself a proper nerd/geek

I know the Dune series (Frank Herbert only), The Lord Of The Rings series, and Blade Runner are on that list, but i feel like I'm missing a few things.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Stranger in a Strange Land (at minimum; reading all of Heinlein gets you supernerd points but Stranger is a must). The Ender series.

Movies... Firefly/Serenity. Star Wars. Star Trek. Uh....

And heads up? If you're going to read LoTR, the first 100 pages or so of Fellowship is dead boring to slog through because it's Bilbo's birthday crap. And the Tom Bombadil stuff is pretty dead boring too, and yes I've avidly read those sections.

The Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov. You can't NOT read those.
