what are you living for?

(no, really)
i want to know

i'm not sure anymore

so i guess i could just turn myself in.
but.
death is an unknown state. and unknown is scary.
but.
LIFE is an unknown scary. a scary unknown.

[either way] it seems as if i'm doomed without anything to follow ... with nothing to live for, with nothing to die for

what am i living for? the moment. this right now. not 10 years from now, not college, not tomorrow, right NOW. i realized a while ago you can't worry about what will happen, what might happen. none of it's worth it. the only thing that we are capable of is living for the present. sure, sure, we can worry about the world, politics, the state of the environment. i agree with all this, i agree that we call have civil responsibilities. but at the same time you can't spend your whole life worrying about things like that. you won't have time to live if you spend half your life thinking about things that have a 2 percent chance of happening 20 years from now and speaking in abstractions. half the time i feel like russel from almost famous, ranting on and on about how i just want something real. real people. i've found that, and i'm going to savor it for as long as i can. i'm not going to worry about what's to come 10 years from now. i never can fill in those blanks on job applications.

scary can be exciting. the unknown is what i live for. if i knew what was going to happen tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, living would be tedious.

live because you don't know where you're going to end up in life, what you're going to be fighting for five, ten, twenty, fifty years in the future.

live because once you die, you'll end up in the same place you would have ended up five, ten, twenty, fifty years ago. the end is going to be the same, even if it is unknown-- you can't give up on the unknown of the future. every great person of history faced a point in their past where they questioned why they should live-- and if they had stopped living for something or living at all, the world would have been lost without them.

I live for Jesus Christ. It doesnt matter what you do on this earth if you have affected nobody. Live your life the best way you can, as truthfully and as meaningfully as you can. Have a relationship with Christ. Live to serve God and others.

I promise, its the only thing that matters.

We as humans are constantly on the search to figure out who we are, what our purpose is, what our passion is. people travel many roads, finding only emptiness. we are built with a God- sized hole in us, and nothing less will fill it.

Its not easy, but its the only thing worth living for, the only thing worth dying for.
