[Title:] je faux choisir le moindre
[Setting:] AU. Modern day.
[Character(s):] Mireille
[Summary:] Caught between two evils.
She knows. She knows that it’s the choice she has made, quite actively - not to inform the public of Jean Louis’ other occupations. Consequently, she also and fully acknowledges that he’s not the only one who’s made her his accomplice. For the sake of her own comforts, she stays by his side. Selfishly. But not silently.
Not silently.
Because, on the other hand, she’s equally aware that change shall always pose an option. For the both of them. So long as she insists on her loyalty, she is placing him in a position which doesn’t restrict him, to his current course of action alone. The mistakes he’s making, continuously. The ones that she won’t endorse; isn’t… endorsing, regardless of appearances.
It isn’t black and white. Rather, it’s a balance between numerous shades of grey and just a touch of blue, every so often. Ever so often. She knows, doesn’t she? That she is wronging the country that they have, surely, both dedicated themselves to. As Father did before them. Yet, it must be considered an idealistic immorality - seeing how she is implementing it in recognition of his potential.
For good.
