Wow what a, scuse my french, BITCH! Trust me you do not want to try working while student teaching. I thought I could do it and I can't. Especially once you start lead teaching! If she really wants you to stay, maybe work weekends, but during the week is very very hard to go straight from teaching all day to work without a break. Also, most student teachers/interns are required to be at school until at least 3:45, unless your co-op teacher releases you early. I would think very hard about Lauren!

Don't work while student teaching. I can tell you from experience that unless you absolutely have to, it's not worth it. I HATE working while student teaching. I rarely ever get out of the school "on time" and it sucks running from one place to another. Student teaching is a full time job and exhausting. Don't feel bad about asking for a leave of absence. Don't let her guilt you into it, she's not taking your needs into consideration at all. Plus kids are adaptive, they'll get used to someone else.
