it's been really rainy and there's been terrible weather here. it doens't make me want to go out and do anything. i really want to explore the city and figure out where things are and find other things that i haven't seen but when it's raining, i just want to go to sleep

I'm sorry about your grandmother and that you are so far away during this time. I understand about the English, I know we talked about this earlier. I was glad to be in a homestay to keep me away from the English for long periods of time.

Hopefully when the weather gets better your mood will pick up and you can branch out from the other Americans a little more. When I studied abroad, my Japanese got a real boost from hanging out with the other exchange students who couldn't speak any English. Hopefully you can find German students with the same interests as you and make a lot of friends! Does your university have any clubs you can join?
