who knows indeed.
At sentosa, smtimes u gt just plain (well actually rather salty) ol'crummy seaweed… But smtimes, u gt a huuuuge cargo ship coming straight up at ya. Like the one that ran aground at siloso not too long ago.
… all u can do is pray for the right weather conditions, & some kickass strong winds … *laughs*
somehow, as I typed that, I got this flashback of the scene from “Forces of Nature.” The famous hail-scene where Sandra Bullock & Ben Affleck got real chunks of ice hurrrrlled at them. Whee. Ouch. ;p
there's always hope! (but saying this reminds me of this scene in the Shawshank Redemption, where Red tells Andy off for encouraging people to hope, when it's hopeless).
the context of this thought (for those who are curious) comes from cast away, in one of the last scenes, where tom hanks reflects on his 4 years marooned, and how it has changed his whole life. with such resonance and feeling. one of the 'moments' of the film, i must say.
but don't you think that, having to wait for the right weather conditions puts so much out of one's control? everything must be right - the mixture of all the factors. right weather conditions, build up of waves, bad visibility, divine intervention, etc. maybe we were just too conceited to think that we were ever in control.

there is almostalways hope, i think.
even if there isnt, acting upon that hope often lands us in the very next best situation, or gets us the next best thing.
as for control... (this reminds me too much of the matrix. ;p)
yes, sometimes there's only so much u can do.
the waiting, the divine intervention, the combination of right weather conditions, etc. are outta our hands
..but, most of the time. i think ppl underestimate themselves. we can only do so little / much, but it is something and sometimes this something can make all the difference.
MAKING RAIN did u read the papers yest abt the haze in indon and m'sia? other than firefighting on the grd, the 'copters were sent out to 'cloud-seed.' --> adding chemicals to the clouds so that rain will fall.
after reading that, i thought heck if we can make rain, theres a lot of other things thats well w/in our control.
