Whoa! Who's Chatty Cathy, tonight?

My cousin's boyfriend's brother passed away recently and the funeral was, today. Yesterday, she called and asked me to do a reading during the service (Catholic). Apparently, her boyfriend wanted someone, who actually goes to church. The funny thing is that he couldn't think of anyone because he doesn't go to Mass himself!

I don't get that... Why have a Catholic funeral when you didn't live a Catholic life? )

I don't know what it is either, but I'm sure a lot of people do that. Eric's family was raised Catholic and they did the whole baptism thing and first communion when it came time for that, but they don't go to church, as far as I know. It does seem a little fake, but maybe it provides people with some sort of comfort? I really have no idea. :\

Like I said in your other post (I hope you got the comment and don't think I'm ignoring your entries because I'm not! -_-): move to Colorado! Maybe some time away would make your mama more open to certain things happening? No se! Solamente es una idea.

You're right. I suppose it's the same with Protestants, too. I imagine that you couldn't tell as much with Baptists, though. They just sit and listen to the sermon. There isn't a lot of up, down, spin around, as there is in a Catholic Church. Heh.

Yes, I did get that comment! :) And I totally agree. I'm still pretty determined about working/teaching in Spain for 8 months. That's a far-in-the-future plan, but I always have it in the back of my mind. ♥

I'd be interested in going to a Baptist service, as all I know is Catholic. I don't know why, but I assumed there was a lot of singing and moving around at a Baptist service. Or perhaps I'm thinking of another religion, hmm.

Ok, good. I think it'd be a great experience!

I guess it depends on the church. The Baptist services I've been to on the reservation have been relatively tame. There's a bit of "Amen!"-ing, but not a whole lot. NOW, when I went with a friend to her church, which was nondenominational and full of country, white folks, it was a whole other thing! There was shouting out, speaking in tongues, and some lady fell out onto the floor. To each their own, but oy... :/

Yes, a dream come true!

lol, you should have told her that I'm your girlfriend! OH, GOD IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HILARIOUS. I can't even imagine the emotional/intellectual conflict that would have gone through her head. (Although, I suppose it would suck that it'd plant the seed of doubt lesbian. :/)

XDDD If you found a German OR Russian, I imagine that your parents AND sister would hate him! hehe. You do have a point, though... I wonder what kind of man they imagine you with.

I'm pretty close to my mom so, it doesn't bother me to ask questions like that. I was actually surprised by her reaction. That and asking inappropriate/awkward questions is sometimes fun! XD Tonight, I brought it up to my brother so, he turned to my mom and said, "What if I dated a black girl?" hahaaha. My poor mom!
