[Hans is sitting in his cabin, tapping his fingers on the stick Ark gave him and worrying about the noises from last night. The crow is sitting on his shoulder and every so often Hans reaches up and strokes its chest feathers absently. Suddenly he stiffens with an audible gasp, looking around blindly as he smells smoke on the air. While he's still ( Read more... )

[It takes about ten minutes from the time the smoke is visible to the time that Ark arrives; enough time for the fire to spread throughout the cabin. She isn't sure how much damage has been done, but it doesn't look as though the entire structure has been consumed. She also isn't wasting time arriving at the scene. Through the snap-crackle of the flames there's a much louder sound as she comes right through the wall rather than circle the cabin to reach the front door. She doesn't see Hans immediately, but she calls out for him, her voice raised but still strangely calm.]

[Unfortunately, Hans has kind of gone into his own little world of fear and sort of part thinks he's back in his old village. He hears Ark's voice but all he can do is cry harder.]

[The heat singes Ark's skin, but she ignores it. She can hear what sounds like crying, and fixates on the sound, moving towards it with no regard for what gets in her way - be that flame, or unfortunate furniture (the latter of which is kicked or pushed aside with inhuman ease). The fire makes it impossible to find him with infrared, but the sound is really just as good. She finds the room he's in and moves quickly to his side. This room isn't as damaged as the other, fortunately, and Hans seems unharmed.

He doesn't seem particularly coherent, though, and Ark doesn't have time to do this gently. She leans down and scoops him up in her delicately-shaped arms, holding him like a groom carrying his bride across the threshold.]

Please stay calm, Hans Stürmhimmel. We need to leave immediately.

[Hans is shaking wildly and still clutching his stick tight. He returns to some kind of ludicity as she speaks to him, but remains hideously confused and panicked]
