:( It's sad. It really is. And out of everyone I talk to up here, only a few of them are as angry as I am. That is what pisses me off more, I think: the people who just don't give a shit because it isn't happening near them. WELL, little do they realize that this is going to affect all of us, sooner or later. For us New Yorkers, it will be later, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't care until then. It's kinda like when I told people about the Cover and they said '...So? It's just dolphins." And yeah, I understand that there are humans being trafficked all over the world and stoned to death or being beaten and raped... and that pisses me off too! But seriously... how can you say ''It's just dolphins." The amount of indifference in this world frightens me. What are we coming to?
I know. It's like old news to people now and unless it's affecting their own little worlds then most people aren't going to get too worked up about it even though it's all over the news. I think people also get sick of hearing about it because of the media going on and on, but down here it's pretty scary because it's our home and our economy it's affecting. Just like the article I linked says, it really brings the disaster home with the oil going into our lake. Everybody was like "oh, no it won't get in the lake." I said that. I hoped that would be true. I thought we would still have the lake, but then I saw the article and my stomach turned over. It's not as bad as they say it is as far as I can see in Florida and even Mississippi. The sandy beaches are much easier to clean than the wetlands. There was a little bit of oil on the sand in Orange Beach when we went, but just because it's not that bad visibly doesn't mean people should forget about it or wave it away as not being a big deal. I don't like how the media has to act like it

I figured the facility is guarded to keep people from hurting themselves/ stealing the waste and throwing it at BP people, and because it is toxic. But the fact that no one knows anything or wont tell anything is disheartening.
It is disheartening. They don't mention it at all in the news. According to the Associated Press they put it in the same landfills that our garbage goes in because the Environmental Protection Agency doesn't consider it hazardous material. O_o
