Well it's 1:40 am on a Sunday & I cannot sleep. My little firefighter is out cold in bed next to me, however I can't seem to catch a wink. & I have to be up in 6 hours for a long day of school & work. Thank you so much everyone for all the advice & sharing your stories.
I really appreciate all your perspectives & taking the time to help me out.
I feel a little bit better knowing I am clearly not the only one who's had to deal with this kind of situation in college.

So I was in this exact situation what, 5 months ago? Let me tell you something, you and I are in the same exact boat with our relationships and I think that it is worth staying with him 100%. I was MISERABLE in Orlando without LB. My heart felt so heavy every single second I was there and all I could think about was counting down the days to when I saw him, which took me away from even thinking about making a life up there.

Love is rare, like Vivian said. And when you feel a connection like the one you and Steven have and me and LB have its so important not to lose that. And besides, you can hang out with me at FIU and at work =)

FIU is a school like any other besides the social scene.

well Just to let you know i have enjoyed my time at FIU a lot and think it is a great school. there are a few problems witht the system but the professors are great and you never know u may like it.

I ditto the last two comments about FIU.
Realistically, I know you crave the college experience but you will not fully enjoy it if you are miserable without Steven by your side. If Steven is what makes you happy, well, then you'll be happy whether you get that "going away for college" experience or stay close to home.
