Perhaps my apathy is best described through counter-example:

I am a World of Warcraft photographer.

Living cramped in a tiny box of a dorm, in the midst of a city I have barely explored, I choose to embark on journeys through vast digital lands. I do play the game in its intended manner, but there is hardly anything in it as satisfying as watching an Azerothian sunset or capturing glimmers of sunshine through cracks in city walls. I see a moment of beauty, and tab my controls aside; suddenly it's a thousand times more real, and the illusion of immersion is wild and fascinating, even though I can see only pixels where I can't feel heat.

There's a poignancy in considering how rich and delicate the art design for this game is. Rarely do people outwardly acknowledge how important these sublime environments are to the player base.

Or at least, they're important to me.

But in the end...

Isn't this the last thing I should care about?
