I wrote this ages ago, but for various reasons never posted it here. It was inspired by Dom & Billy's famous
hug at ComiCon in 2004, and is set in the
All That Matters for Now universe. All lies, of course!

It was an odd feeling, to be turning the key in the door of Dom's apartment, knowing that Dom was not inside, or anywhere else within a several-hundred mile radius for that matter. But a good feeling nonetheless, to be here, at Dom's place, with the knowledge that very shortly he would be on a plane heading towards LA at around 500 miles an hour.
Billy struggled through the door with his bags and made it into the living room before he dumped them. Feeling the call of alcohol in the fridge, knowing that Dom would have left it stocked, he toed off his shoes and headed for the kitchen. On the fridge door was a large note: 'Don't forget dinner at 7.30 love Sean, Chris, Allie and Lizzie', except that 'Allie' was written in a childish script. Billy smiled, feeling loved, and pulled open Dom's enormous fridge.
In the middle of the top shelf was a bottle of champagne with a note stuck to it in Dom's writing: DON'T YOU DARE DRINK ME TILL DOM GETS HERE. Next to it was a bottle of white wine, bearing the legend: YOU CAN DRINK ME IF YOU CAN'T STAND THE LONELINESS TONIGHT, and underneath a six-pack of beer, which yelled YOU CAN DRINK US TO BUT LEAVE SOME FOR DOM. Billy thought back to the last time he knew Dom had been in LA: two or three weeks ago. He grinned, all warm and fuzzy that Dom had been planning all this even back then.
Billy pulled one of the bottles out of the six-pack and returned to the living room, flopping down gratefully on the couch. He picked up one of the cushions and pressed it to his face, inhaling the scent of Dom, then let it fall to his lap.
"Sentimental twat," he said aloud, twisted the cap off the beer and switched on the TV.
Billy and the bottle of white wine had a very pleasant evening at the Astins' place, barbecuing, talking about the Democratic nomination and playing ball games in the garden. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough, however, and so Billy went back to Dom's as early as politeness would allow, pleading jetlag. When he pulled back the bedclothes, there was yet another note in Dom's writing, on the pillow on what had become Billy's side of the bed.
Can't wait, it said.

The convention hall was noisy and crowded. To Billy, it seemed like the only place on earth to be, knowing that somewhere under this roof was Dom. The Q and A session went according to plan, he and David got a good line in banter going and everyone seemed to go away well satisfied. Then came the signing. The line went on and on, and everyone was very nice and Billy was a good actor and a gentleman to boot, so never once let show either his tiredness or his anxiety to see Dom. Finally they were allowed a break, and got up and made his way around the table.
There he was.
Walking right towards Billy.
Dom.
Everything within Billy wanted him to let out one of his patented girly shrieks, but instead stood with his hands in his pockets, looking nonchalant as Dom approached with the hugest grin on his face Billy had ever seen.
"Hiya, mate."
"Hello, Dom."
And they were hugging, Dom's arms were around Billy, and his around Dom, and it was all Billy could do not to bury his face in Dom's neck and breathe him in.
"Missed you," Dom whispered.
They let go reluctantly. Billy saw someone signalling to him.
"Better go. I'll see you later."
Dom looked him right in the eye and smiled a knowing smile.
"Can't wait," he said.
