I don't think you're a poser and I think you have every right to wear the Om symbol. I respect that you know its origin. I didn't until I read this. :)
I think some people treat religion like it's theirs, exclusively, and no one else can participate if they aren't part of the "in" crowd or buy into their particular ideas about what religion should be. Just look at what passes for 'Christians' these days. Jesus preached about love and taking care of the poor. This seems to be lost on many (not all) of his followers these days. Goodness forbid you try to point that out to them. ;)
