It didn't make sense. 004 was standing in a plaza, surrounded by mismatched architecture in varying states of age. How had he- no, wait. 001 had transported them all out of the city before they were crushed. They'd been dropped into the sea, and then he was inexplicably here, standing in this plaza of sorts, alone. Not to mention still soaked in ( Read more... )

Kresnik just finished his shopping for the expedition when he noticed the soaked appearance of an unfamiliar man across the plaza. It seemed like the City drew him in at a rather bad time, unless the man enjoyed standing in the rain or something.

The soldier held the brown grocery bag tighter in his arms as he walked towards the red-wearing individual. "...Are you alright?"

004 didn't notice the stranger at first; he wasn't in the greatest of mindsets after what he'd just gone through, and now this. But he did notice him just a moment before he spoke, stopping and turning on his heel as his metal hand moved automatically to the ray gun holstered at his hip. He didn't draw it, however. He just stood and warily looked him over.

"Who are you?" His voice was gruff and demanding. Right now he was more focused on getting answers than meeting new people.

Kresnik noticed as the stranger's metal hand, it seems like he had an accident, moved to the gun holstered on his hip. He didn't panic, since the other didn't draw it out yet.

"...I'm Commander Kresnik of Brionac." Kresnik answered, knowing that he is edgy after being dropped off at an unknown city. "Who might you be?"

His frown grew deeper at that title. A commander? And Brionac didn't ring any bells. But he hadn't yet shown any signs of being hostile, and he didn't look like he worked for Black Ghost... not that looks had done him much good in the past.

"Where is this place, and where are my friends?"

It was always interesting when new people arrived in the middle of the plaza when Emmy was wandering around. This one, however, didn't seem to be nearly as distressed as everyone else had been; that, in and of itself, seemed to be weird.

"Excuse me," she called out quietly, brushing a lock of her long blonde hair back, making a note to tuck it into her braid later.

Someone else now, a woman this time. He was somewhat less paranoid, but still wary as he turned to face her. He asked the same question as well.

"Who are you?"

"Emeraude Iserath," she replied plainly, offering the hand that wasn't clutching her crutch once she got close enough. "And you are?"

A straightforward enough answer. He briefly debated whether to take the offered hand or not, deciding against it. She was apparently injured, but he'd encountered too many enemies that could harm by way of physical contact. He crossed his arms instead.

"You can call me 004."

Riza understood the feeling of suddenly and recently lost comrades. Had she understood his plight, she would have been fairly sympathetic. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. The lieutenant, not about to take any risks, fired a warning shot a foot from the mysterious intruder's feet.

It was possible that later, she would reflect on this as a very bad idea.

The moment the bullet hit the ground, he leaped back and yanked out his ray gun, pointing it in the direction the attack had come from. I knew it; not everyone here is peaceful. His assailant appeared human, but he couldn't trust that- he kept his gun on attack mode. He remained still and waited for their next move.

She, too, waited without saying a word. Riza was surprised that he didn't shoot back or surrender immediately, and, upon realizing that he probably wouldn't do either, lowered her gun and hoped he would do the same.

At first, when she lowered her gun, he kept his raised, eyes narrowing. She'd fired at him, only to lower her weapon now? Was this a trick?

After a brief moment of hesitation, he decided not to lower his gun, not just yet.

"Are you here to kill me?"

A young man made his way across the plaza nearby, his steps careful and almost hesitant. He held a book in hand, the cover seemingly blank.

Shinju turned his head slightly at the sound of the squeaking footsteps, taking note that they seemed heavier than the typical person's stride. Not finding the steps familiar, he paused and moved to face the newcomer, his eyes not quite focused in the right spot.

"Hello," he greeted simply, not sure if perhaps he simply couldn't remember meeting this person before. Making assumptions was something he tried to avoid since coming to the strange City.

Another stranger. Considering the last one had shot at him, he was put on guard again, looking this newcomer over as they faced him. He didn't notice his eyes just yet, more focused on looking for signs of a weapon or ill intent. The only thing he seemed to have on him was that book, however, and he looked more friendly than malicious.

"Mm. I take it you're another one of the people stuck here." More of a statement than a question. "What's your name?" If there were only around thirty people here, it wouldn't be too difficult to find out who all of them were. He may as well start now.

"That's right," he responded with a short nod. He was glad the newcomer seemed calm despite the strange situation he'd been put in.

"I'm Shinju Gouka. And you?" the young man said, offering a friendly smile.

Shinju Gouka... was that a japanese name? He wasn't sure, and it didn't really matter anyway. He hesitated a moment- he still didn't feel like it was a great idea to shake hands with a stranger- before he held out his left hand, which at least looked like a normal human hand.

"004. It looks like I'm new around here."
