I wouldn't mind explaining it to someone who hasn't seen the show if they have like 30 minutes of im-ing time and then have a bunch of hours to watch the series after they hear how awesome it is.

FX fireman drama lands outspoken film star for multiepisode story arc.
Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon has signed on to guest-star in three episodes of FX's drama series
Rescue Me.
In the series, which stars Denis Leary and revolves around the lives of New York firefighters, Sarandon will portray Alicia, a rich, successful woman who becomes the latest flame of Franco (Daniel Sunjata). Her character seduces Franco by teaching him that an older woman is what he needs. Sarandon's three-episode stint will start with the second episode of season three, which is currently in production with an early-summer premiere date.
Sarandon, who won a best actress Oscar for 1996's Dead Man Walking, recently appeared in the films Elizabethtown, Alfie, and Shall We Dance. On the TV side, her recent credits include Sci Fi Channel's miniseries Children of Dune as well as guest appearances on NBC's Friends and Fox's The Simpsons.

The emphasis is my own obviously. I would try to imagine how terribly hilarious that will be, but judging from past experience, I can't compete with
Peter Tolan and
Denis Leary [x3 imdb.com]
