if you think you get a lot of flack for being a cashier - avoid serving tables! not only do we take the blame for any of the restaurant's flaws or mistakes, but we must also be capable of reading peoples' minds about their needs and desires. "Will I like this?" people ask me on a regular basis, as if I know. "Will I be full from that?" they expect me to visually gage their hunger. at least your customers dont ask you to do their shopping for you.

someone once told me that the best education in respect would be a day as a waiter - I totally agree. serving people teaches you a lot about other's retardation and levels of compassion.
you also learn to be very very gratefull for individual's efforts.
I treat my cashiers extra nicely cause I KNOW what kind of public they usually serve.

ah my customers are usually fine - everyone is nice and friendly generally. its just the unhelpful ones i dont like. like the people who wont take the stuff outa the trolley when its too heavy for me to lift, they'll just watch me struggle. i work in a diy store....bastard builders.

same with the girl above...but working at kinkos is hell to because i have to work the self-serve area and people just dont understand that its self-serve...i mean i help them get started but most people want me to do there whole project...and then i also run the cashiers so i have double attitude...so i just try and be as nice as i can:)

Well, it is the cashier's fault. Stop performing a public service, dammit. mooenz July 6 2004, 18:10:13 UTC
*sarcasm*I sell overpriced concessions, thus I know people serving the general public are deserving of rudeness. I understand that it's my fault, because I make the prices. And I make people buy them. Own up, man.*end sarcasm*
