It is 1866 and a ship is in imminent danger of being crushed by the ice to the west of Greenland. The ship's doctor is gathering together as much warm clothing as he can, but the mate comes up to him and says, "I shouldn't worry too much about your crang if I were you, doctor - we're all done for if we go down here." Maybe he was referring to the clothes themselves as crang, as in something worthless or useless. Don't worry too much about your [useless junk]. Or maybe not.
