Brynne I posted something similar on my LJ and thought it instantly. I was older than you when Thriller came out definitely and I grew up with Michael Jackson basically. I was a big fan for a long time and then a sort of fan, but his music has always been so big to me. And yes, to me it's like when Elvis passed away to my mom. He was our Elvis. It feels that way I remember my mom and her sisters feeling with Elvis. It's stunning and sad. But thank goodness we have his music.

I was in kindergarten in 1983 and I remember coming home and watching Thriller on MTV every day at like 2:30. I kinda hid my eyes but still watched. I thought he was amazing. I do feel like something ended today. My daughter is seven and I remember loving Michael Jackson at her age and he was the King of Pop, for real. Who does Jade have right now? Miley? OMG, I think the biggest obsession she has ever had is Adam Lambert. lol.

it really does feel like a different world without his presence in it. "remember the time" was one of my very first favorite songs.
