Jon saw his first chance to escape during a training session.

He’d been living this nightmare for three weeks in Gackt’s fortress of a home, but Jon hadn’t been idle or allowed depression to claim him. No. He’d been studying his jailer, working out his routine and constantly assessing every situation that occurred.

After three weeks, Jon thought he’d found a plausible escape route.

Gackt, as well as just being plain crazy, was crazily obsessed about several things. His Gundam collection, make up counter and keeping his wardrobe alphabetised were just three of those things, but Jon couldn’t see how any of those could help him. What could help him though, was Gackt’s obsession with his fitness regime.

Everyday, Jon would be dragged into Gackt’s dojo and the two of them would train for three hours. Sometimes You would also be dragged into the dojo and on those days, it was hard to remember who was the real captive as You would look even more defeated, distressed and desperate for escape than Jon.

When training, Gackt was a machine. He was in the zone. He ignored his surroundings, the people with him, the fire alarm… If Gackt wanted to beat one of his own training records, then there was no distracting him. Not even the sprinkler system and the havoc it played with his eyeliner could deter Gackt from obtaining his goal.

It was during one of these training sessions that Jon noticed that the dojo door hadn’t been locked. Gackt had his back to him, his bare skin dripping with sweat and glistening under the strong lights as he repeatedly lifted a 25kg dumbbell over his head. Gackt was determined to break his repetitions record today and had paid little attention to Jon since he’d started training.

They were alone. This was Jon’s chance.

Jon quietly crept to the door, occasionally glancing over his shoulder to ensure that Gackt was still lifting that dumbbell. He had his hand on the door handle when…

CRASH

Gackt’s dumbbell smashed against the wood, only a few inches away from his head.

Jon turned around slowly, his heart pounding through his chest through the shock.

“It slipped,” Gackt said dryly before slowly strolling over to Jon, picking up the dumbbell and locking the door with the key he had hidden in the pockets of his shorts.

Jon shakily nodded in understanding and followed Gackt back to the other side of the dojo.

Maybe he wouldn’t escape today.
