Summary - Gackt and Jon are reviewing footage of the final Japanese YFC show. Gackt loves the visual he sees, especially when shirts are ripped off...

Every night after the concert had finished, Gackt would take the time to play back the videos the staff had recorded of the show. Tonight might have been the last night, the final of the Japanese tour, but Gackt was both a creature of habit and a workaholic so, as always, he was scrutinising every second of the tape.

Usually the rest of the band would be there and there would be a group discussion as they watched. They’d highlight the good points and debate the bad points, but most importantly, they’d decide ways to improve the show for the next time. However, because this was the final and the rest of the band were undoubtedly eager to find the nearest bar, Gackt had excused them from the routine and simply asked them to ensure there was still some tequila left for when he finally joined them, a couple of hours later.

To Gackt’s great surprise, Jon had volunteered to stay behind and watch the footage back with him.

It was nice to have just two voices calmly discussing what was happening on screen instead of having to suffer through the usual loudness and excitement that seven different voices and seven different opinions created. Gackt had found throughout the course of the tour that Jon had a very different opinion on things to him, but always spoke from the heart and had sound reasons behind his thoughts. Gackt loved reviewing the shows and discussing improvements with him, so of all the guys in the band, Gackt was glad that it was Jon who had volunteered to stay.

They had watched mainly in silence this time as both singers were more than aware that they were watching the end of a tour that had been difficult, but oh so special. It may be a temporary end, but it was an end nonetheless.

It wasn’t until the introduction to Mousou Girl began to play, that the first words were spoken by Jon. “You know G, I’m really proud of everything we’ve achieved so far as YFC.”

“Me too,” Gackt smiled. “It’s become more than even I had imagined it would be.”

“I think I’m most proud of the lives,” Jon continued. “I hope we were able to capture that image you had in your mind when this all first started.”

“We did,” Gackt answered. “In fact, I think that out of all of the tours I’ve done, this YFC tour is the one that has most closely matched my original vision.”

Jon looked at his fellow vocalist in surprise. “Really?”

Gackt nodded. “Just look at the screen. It’s all so perfect. It’s such a simple stage but that makes the lighting and positioning of the band look even better.”

“The positioning of the band?” Jon asked, puzzled.

“Everything is perfectly balanced,“ Gackt explained. “Shinya is in the centre, underneath the YFC backdrop, and his drum kit is perfectly symmetrical. There are two guitarists either side, one at the front and one at the back either side and they’re exact mirror images of each other.

“And then there’s us,” Gackt continued. “Stood up front, moving in unison and sharing the limelight equally. It just works.”

Jon hummed. “I never really looked at our positioning that deeply. I guess everything does balance and compliment each other.”

“But the most pleasing visual aspect, and the biggest compliment on stage, really is us. Especially when we’re shirtless”

“What do you mean, G?”

“Look at you,” Gackt said, pointing to the screen as it showed Jon ripping his shirt off, “your skin is so beautifully pale and your body is lean and muscular. You’re all masculine angles and muscle that looks so sharp that it could cut the fingers of anyone who dared to touch.”

The camera shot changed to Gackt. “And look at me,” Gackt said, “I’m smoother and darker skinned… I think you called my skin tone gold, once?” Jon nodded in agreement. “I’m just as lean and muscular as you, but my body flows more and it isn’t sharp at all. I guess it’s almost feminine in the way it curves. You wouldn’t cut your fingers on me; instead fingers would just glide over my skin.”

Jon watched the screen for a few seconds as it switched to a wider view of the stage and allowed him to see both himself and Gackt. The blonde was right, Jon’s body looked especially harsh next to Gackt’s fluid chest and stomach and his skin had never looked paler.

“Having two body types that differ as much as ours close together isn’t a good idea,” Gackt said. “You can make someone look better, but it usually makes yourself look worse in the process.”

Jon stared at the screen again. “We both look great though.”

“Exactly,” Gackt smiled. “My gold makes your pale look better, and vice versa. Your sharp angles make my body look even curvier, and that in turn makes you look leaner. It’s amazing, really. We make each other look stunning. I look better when stood next to you and seriously Jon, have you ever looked better than when you’re standing next to me?”

Jon shook his head. He had to admit that he really hadn’t ever looked better than when he was on stage with YFC. Gackt was the perfect compliment to him, and he to Gackt.

“We look hot,” Jon said simply.

Gackt laughed. “Of course we do. That’s the point.”

Jon laughed too and carried on watching the screen as Mousou Girl finished and was followed by the usual end of song antics. “I see what you mean about us complimenting each other and how perfectly balanced the stage is,” Jon said, “but do you know what the most pleasing visual is about this?”

Gackt shook his head. He’d already spoken of all of the visual aspects that he had carefully crafted and loved so much, but Jon had seen something else? This is why he loved speaking with Jon. The other singer saw things from a different perspective to him. Maybe it was the American upbringing, or maybe it was just Jon himself, but Gackt loved to hear his new opinions.

“To me, the most pleasing visual aspect, the thing I love the most,” Jon said, “is seeing you bent over and getting your ass smacked. Now, that’s really hot.”

Jon was stood outside and rubbing the sore point on his head caused by Gackt hitting him with the remote control before the next song, Vanilla had even started.

Gackt didn’t want to watch anything with Jon, ever again.
