Notes - sequel to yesterday's Oblivious
“Hey G, can I speak to you?”
Gackt nodded in agreement and smiled as he put his laptop to one side. Jon took a deep breath as he sat down opposite his fellow singer. The conversation he’d had with You yesterday had stayed with him and he’d resolved that he’d speak to Gackt as soon as he got chance. Jon had purposely arrived at the rehearsal studio early, safe in the knowledge that Gackt would be there, and would be alone.
“I want to speak to you about You,” Jon said.
The smile immediately left Gackt’s face. “What about You? He’s okay, isn’t he?”
“He’s fine,” Jon answered. “I just wanted to talk to you about him.”
“And?” Gackt prompted. He had been in the middle of something important when Jon had interrupted him. He was happy to speak with Jon, but was also well aware that it was distracting him from the work that kept piling up.
Jon didn’t know how to approach the subject with Gackt. He’d stumbled across it with You, but now that he knew that Gackt and You weren’t together it was far harder to speak about Gackt’s feelings towards the guitarist than it had been to speak to You. In the months that Jon had known Gackt, he’d come to learn that the man could be quite blunt at times and appreciated straight talking.
So, Jon took a deep breath, and rushed straight in. “G, you love You.”
“I know.”
Jon sighed. Gackt didn’t understand him. “As more than a friend.”
“I know,” Gackt repeated.
“As more than a brother, or a soul mate.”
Gackt looked at him blankly. “Yeah… What’s your point?”
These two were going to give Jon a headache. “I mean that you love him as you would do a lover. You’re in love with him.”
“I know,” Gackt said simply.
“You… wait!” Jon exclaimed, “what do you mean, ‘you know’?”
Gackt rolled his eyes. “I know who I’m in love with, Jon.”
“But, you… how can you know? I thought you were just as clueless about it as You is.”
“You?” Gackt asked hesitantly. “Have you spoken to You about this?”
“Well, he loves you too, I think,” Jon said.
“I know he does,” Gackt answered.
“Wait…” Jon said. He could feel the headache starting. “How do you know?”
“It’s pretty obvious,” Gackt said with a soft smile. “He’s always watching me, always there, always treats me like I’m made of glass because he wants to protect me and keep me safe… I think he’s the only one that doesn’t realise it.”
“If you know that you love You, and that he loves you, why aren’t you together?”
Gackt sighed. “Because You isn’t ready to for it.”
“And how can you know that?” Jon asked. “You doesn’t even know that.”
“I told him, once,” Gackt said sadly. “He didn’t understand me. It didn’t matter what I said or how I phrased it, he didn’t understand what I meant. He thought I meant that I loved him as a friend, a brother, a soulmate… He’s a clever guy, but sometimes he can be completely blind to things that he’s not expecting.”
Jon bit his lip. “Damn.”
“Yep, damn,” Gackt replied.
A few moments of silence passed before Jon spoke again. “What are you going to do about it?”
“The same thing I’ve been doing since I told him four years ago,” Gackt replied, “wait for him to wake up and come to me.”
“Ah,” Jon said slowly, “maybe that’ll happen sooner than you think.”
Gackt wanted to question Jon further on his statement, but he was interrupted by the sight of Shinya, closely followed by You, entering the rehearsal room. Shinya smiled brightly and waved at the two vocalists, whereas You struggled to meet either singer’s gaze.
“You should talk to him,” Jon whispered so that neither drummer nor guitarist could hear him. “Maybe he’s woken up.”
Gackt looked at the American with suspicion. It was plain to him that Jon knew something he didn’t, and if Jon was pushing for him to speak with You, then maybe it was time he stopped waiting and tried to wake You himself. “Maybe I should speak with him.”
Jon watched from a distance as Gackt approached You and spoke to him briefly before dragging him away to the break room down the hallway.
Jon crossed his fingers, and hoped for the best.

1) I'm not writing the discussion Gackt and You have (well, unless I get to day 30 and have completely ran out of ideas XD) so fill in the blank yourself!
2) Jon doesn't need to be the bad guy keeping Gackt and You apart.
