Summary - still escaping??

You felt very bad.

That conversation he’d had with Jon when YFC were still rehearsing, where Jon had desperately asked for his help escaping only for You to ignore his request, was still playing heavily on his mind.

You was a nice guy. He liked to make people happy, be everybody’s friend and help people where he could, and he felt like he had tragically failed the American on all three counts. Jon had needed help, and You had been the only one who could help him.

Eleven years ago (eleven years? Seemed far, far longer) You had been in the same position as Jon. Kidnapped without warning, imprisoned by Gackt and forced to join a band that he didn’t want to be a part of. You had been happy working in that ramen restaurant, surrounded by food all day and working with a hot waitress who flirted with him constantly, but Gackt had stolen all of that away from him the day he’d been kidnapped and dragged to Tokyo.

You would have given anything, even his camera collection, to have gotten away eleven years ago.

It was too late now for him. Stockholm Syndrome had settled in during year three and You had found himself enjoying the job and even beginning to like Gackt again. Slighlty. Despite the man’s craziness and love of torturing him with sharp, pointy objects when he was asleep or eating.

You didn’t want Jon to admit defeat and become as content with Gackt as he had become.

You had watched silently as Gackt had thwarted plan after plan and escape attempt after escape attempt. He’d simply roll over and ignored everything when Gackt would sneak out of bed on the tour bus and handcuff Jon’s ankle to his bunk, just in case the American tried to escape during the night when everyone was asleep. He’d turned a blind eye to the fact that Gackt had replaced Jon’s passport with a fake, one that was good enough to fool Jon but would never get past passport control at any airport. You merely sighed and questioned Gackt’s compassion when he’d learned that Gackt had ensured that Jon’s loving dog had also been kidnapped, just in case Jon succeeding in escaping and Gackt needed a way to get him back.

(You didn’t really think Gackt would harm the dog, Gackt was an animal lover after all, but a stressed and defeated Gackt was prone to do stupid things.)

You was disappointed and disgusted in himself, and decided that on the eve of the Japanese finals, it was time that he corrected that.

He managed to separate Jon from the rest of the band, and Gackt’s watchful eye, shortly after the sound check had finished. “I’m willing to help you.”

Jon looked at You with confused eyes. “Help me with what?”

“Help you escape,” You explained. “I should have helped when you first asked and I’m deeply sorry that I didn’t.”

“Oh,” Jon said surprised, “thank you. I appreciate the apology.”

“I’ll be able to sneak you out,” You said. “When everyone is getting their hair and make up done, I’ll make a distraction and you run. I have your passport and I’ve booked a ticket back to America.”

Jon stared in silence as You slipped a plain brown envelope into his hand. “This is my passport and a ticket to America?”

“A one way ticket,” You explained. “I’ll order a taxi too and have it waiting outside the venue to take you straight to the airport. You’ll be through security before Gackt realises you’re gone.”

“Wow,” Jon said slowly. “This is… I don’t know what to say.”

“You don’t have to say anything,” You explained, “this is my way of apologising for not helping you sooner.”

“I can’t accept this,” Jon said.

“Of course you can.”

“No, I really can’t.”

“Yes, you really can.”

“No, I can’t,” Jon said. “I don’t want to escape anymore.”

You stared at him. “What do you mean, you don’t want to escape anymore?!”

“Exactly that,” said Jon. “I’m quite happy right now, actually.”

You sighed. He was too late! Stockholm Syndrome had set in and Jon thought he was happy. “How can you be happy? Gackt is still watching you like a hawk and you’re subject to his every crazy whim.”

“Ah, he’s not that bad really,” Jon said. “Besides, I’ve found something fun that’s worth staying for.”

You shook his head. “What could that possibly be? You need to escape…”

You couldn’t finish his sentence because at that moment, Gackt walked into the room. The guitarist hastily snatched the envelope from Jon’s hand before Gackt saw it and hid it in his pocket.

“I’ll show you,” Jon said to You. “Hey, G!” he shouted across the room, smiling broadly when Gackt acknowledged his call with a raise of his hand. “Can we practise the fanservice again? Bend over and let me check that I’m fucking you from the right angle!”

“You’re staying for that?!” You asked incredulously.

Jon shrugged his shoulders. “Everyone has to find their fun someplace, right?”
