Femshep/Liara fic...sigh.
Been reading some femshep/Liara kink meme fics and...I'm not sure.
In most of the fics, their sexual relationship is portrayed as the tired dom/sub thing I've seen over and over in slash, and it doesn't do anything for me. Every fic I've read it's the same thing: Dom Shepard ordering sub Liara around, spanking, toys, a strap on, bondage, dirty talk....eh. It's not for me. That's not how I picture them together, at all. Granted, in most of them it's completely consensual and both Liara and Shepard understand boundaries, but come on. A little variety would be nice.
Also, it's really jarring because everyone writes Shepard as the default femshep, while my femshep looks vastly different. She's blonde, to begin with. So whenever I read "Liara brushed a lock of fiery red hair from Shepard's face" I'm suddenly thrown out of the fic, because I keep picturing MY femshep instead of the default. Same thing with fanart. It's not a big deal, I can always draw my OWN femshep/Liara fanart. In fact, I'm working on a portrait of my femshep now.
I'll keep searching for good fic. Sometime maybe I'll write my own! Hopefully soon.
