I took down the cabinets on that wall, but I think we're going to keep the load bearing wall.

Yea, it is being seriously considered. I'd like an island in an open kitchen. But with this kitchen, without the wall storage, we'd need to take out the back door and shorten a window to create more storage - this would make it necessary that we make the current dining area window a french door.. then you'd need a patio to go out onto with the french door. It all sounds good, but it gets pretty expensive.
