Putting a Song Together

I grow wilder all the time with the liberties I'll take with an existing song. I've been working on a new song for tonight's Pub sing at Merlin's, and in this case I'm doing some major reworking of actual published old poetry, in the service of a workable chorus

I think most good singers go through a similar process, but most of them can't/don't verbalize it. Ditto for personal adornments or flights of fancy with the tunes. :D And some people can get away with it and some can't.

Well, it's the same idea (bringing people in with a refrain), but in this case for grownups.
