State of the Dragon

So the last time, I posted was back in April.

I had a year long sub job teaching PE and computers two days a week at the parochial schools. I enjoyed it for the most part and I've made it clear that I'm willing to come back, if I can't find a full time job. I was kind of sad, because the kids were all asking me at the end of the year if I would be back and I couldn't tell them yes or no. ;_;

Since then softball has begun and been completed. We finished 10-2, despite what one of my assistants says. They forfeited a game while I was out of town and it counts! No matter what they say and no, I'm not happy that they did that. We did 9 and 10 year old stars, and lost all three games. We were mercied twice, and I'm just glad we weren't mercied three times.

I was told there was a job fair down in North Carolina and if I went I would get an interview. So I made plans to go down. I was going to stay with friends for a week. About a week before I was going down, they told me that I wouldn't get an interview. I still had the job fair, right? Wrong, got down there and found out it had been canceled. Also while I was there, I couldn't rent a car from Budget (had to walk across the street with all my luggage, they wouldn't give me a lift, even though I had made a reservation online with them), got a car from National with a slow leak in the back tire, my computer died on a Thursday, Apple phone said to take it to the Apple Store and they'd be able to fix it, Apple store said they could, but they didn't know how long it would take and I was going back on Tuesday, so they couldn't guarantee it would be done by then, so the only thing I really could was have Apple send the box to my house to be there when I got home (since the Apple Store had none!), and mother was like an hour late picking me up at the airport. I ended up coming home, feeling like a failure because of the whole going down and thinking I'm coming back with a job. However, I'd totally go back down to chill with my friends, just not during softball season and not just for a job fair. I'd totally go down for a job there, it was kind of awesome being around people that I have more in common with than just the friends with nobody else group that I had in High School.

As for the UM alumni club, right before I left I was kind roosted from my treasurer position. Why? Because I thought I was going to get a job in North Caroline and move there. I went to a meeting and told them I was looking there and that I was going to get an interview so they might want to start looking. Well, I hadn't even left to this supposed job fair and I'd been boosted. Did I mention they did all this the day before I left to go out of town? Because they did. Luckily, this was pretty much the work of one person, and it was a misunderstanding. I ran into the president when I got new tires for the cruiser and he said that the one lady had talked to me about it. I told them it hadn't and we sat down to talk about it at one point. I'm still in the U of M club, I'm just not the treasurer, which I'm fine with, because I'm still looking for a job and will move if I can get one.

I also got a job with the Census, which paid good. I worked two phases and got called for a third. I didn't take the third, because I had a job interview to go to for a full time position. Census was done before I went to North Carolina though.

The rest of the summer has been sending apps out and watching my funds slowly dwindle away. Mom has actually said I don't splurge that often anymore. I bought four books, and three dvd sets over the summer. Any movies I buy are typically from Family Video and half off, so that's how I have this ever expanding DVD collection, which luckily isn't growing until September at the earliest, because all the good stuff comes out then.

So that takes care of the summer, which leads us to The Future...

Tomorrow we're going to the Tiger's game and we're going to watch from a luxury box. Dad's friend (who already has really good seats and by really good, I mean behind home plate) won them in an auction, so we're going. I get to hob knob with a the new superintendent and the principal of the 4/5 elementary building and their families.

Mom is planning to shop on the way home. Wednesday we're going out to dinner to Boones, because I want to go and I have the perfect excuse to go on Wednesday. Thursday we go back down state for the Gree - good food and major party times. Plus a side trip to Ann Arbor. Thursday is Jello Shot Making Night, Friday is the pre-Party, Saturday is the Party, Sunday is the post-party and driving home. I will try to update with pics from all of this and some pics from the aquarium in North Caroline that I went to.
