The bacteria thing wasnt just in the book, it was also in the original movie. It was the basis of the story, and part of the suspense.

I mean sure, they could have done it like ID4, they could have found this one little weakness in the invincible aliens systems. A small 1/4 inch hole that if a bullet was shot there, would trigger a chain reaction blowing everything up. Is that the ending you wanted? That seems worse to me.
That isn't how it happened, if at all. Please watch ID4 again.
But anyway, I dont think it would have made sense for them to follow a guy that ends up dying, so yeah of course he survives all the situations, find me a movie where that doesnt happen.
Agreed, so lets make another shitty movie that does that. Give it an excuse.
You need to start looking at movies in the context of the movie, not if the actor was the best or if they survived an alien attack. You can replace Tom Cruise with x, where x = any actor. You are being too literal. The movie was lame because it wasn't only Tom Cruise, name one

Ha, I knew you were going to take what I said following ID4 as my description of what happened in ID4. I know how that movie went, I have seen it countless times, it had nothing to do with a bullet in the shields, etc. I was only made ID4 as a reference because it went along those lines. They happened to have a ship hanging around that they knew a lot about, he happened to all of a sudden think of a virus that is compatable with the alien systems. I mean, come on charlie, you are in a major that revolves around programming. You fucking write a windows application and run it on a Mac. I seriously doubt those alien systems were running Windows 98, and I also doubt they could figure out the aliens programming language, and understand it well enough to bypass their systems and create a virus

tom cruise is so over ratedmeggerzzzzJune 29 2005, 23:36:21 UTC
i had no desire to see this movie to begin with, but a few people have been trying to convince me into going this week. im glad i said no becuase your description seems like its just what i expected... a waste of my time and money.
your review didnt seem much like a spoiler though, beucause i would have expected for him to live through it all. its like that pretty much every movie, which i hate becuase its so unrealistic. The Day After Tomorrow is another prime example of that, becuase seriously how did that stupid kid and his friends survive in that library... that seriously would not happen in real life. EVER!

well, i actually really like day after tomorrow.....
yes most stuff that happened was a bit far fetched, but honestly i think something like that could and eventually probably will happen on earth. so i guess the fact that they survived was the MOST unbelievable part of the movie, maybe not the only.
but i do not want to get into a debate over this, i come in peace :-D
