So far the only book I've gotten is my chem book because the other ones haven't been available at the book store and they need this stupid code to access their online content which all of my teachers are actually using. Buying the code separate basically negates the worth of me buying a used book so I'll just wait. I haven't gotten settled into

I practiced some amateur cognitive therapy on myself and sure enough, I cursed less. I also hit upon the bright idea that smiling makes me look foolish, and I wanted to be taken seriously all the time, so I conditioned myself to have conscious control of my smile (and laugh reflex, too). Sure enough, I was able to control both.
Just an aside, conscious smiling differs from natural smiling in the number and location of muscles used. It's incredibly difficult to fake a natural smile.
This personal experience shows me that we're not really hardwired for much of anything, and our unconscious behavior traits are almost completely a result of social conditioningNo, it doesn't. It shows that you can change your behavior -- which nobody (at least nobody anyone takes seriously) argues against, given that primates' specialty is behavioral plasticity -- but it doesn't say anything about the origins of that behavior ( ... )
