hmm.. that's a good question. see normally i don't even use a period at all whatsoever because when i DO use them it's in the context of something extremely casual anyway, like this. i rarely use correct grammar and normal rules online anyway though, if you couldn't tell ;)

IMO Emoticons are terrorist free standing agents that hijack a sentence, making all punctuational endings completely useless. Therefore, periods are not needed.

Also, you *must* go to that Aquarium in Yokohama! It's a freaking *island* of it's own after all!
