Okay, so to continue from last post....

Basically, the Guilt Trip went pretty well, although my mother KNOWS HOW TO PUSH ALL BUTTONS EVER ALL THE TIME *BEEEEEE BEEEEEPP BEEEEPBEEPBADEEEPEEEEEEP*

But, I sat down with my parents and sister and worked out The Plan(tm).

The Plan:

1) Survive 'til graduation, using income from work, refunds, and the dollars Dad owes me. This is doable, so long as I really pledge to not overspend (e.g. stop buying soup at Au Bon Pain for lunch, use the EIGHT Bell jars of soup Kris gave me, no eating out, etc.). This isn't going to be toooooo hard, I think, as I really should drop everything and focus on getting the shit for graduation that I need done uhh.. actually done.

2) Get massive loan monies and go to Wisconsin for summer thing. This is presumably actually the easiest part of it, minus the applications for the loan, because there's so little I can actually do to affect it. It either happens, or it doesn't.

3) When program is done, use loan monies to move down to NYC to my sister's apartment, get job. Assuming me and my sister don't uhh.. you know.. murder each other (<3!), this is pretty doable. It just relies on me getting a job in NYC, which is the only thing that makes me really nervous. Hopefully I can rely on my sibs to use their connections to see who needs some help :)

4) Grad school or Japan. --> This is the least sketched out part of The Plan. I'm gonna try out for the Monbusho scholarship, but that's super-long-shot and is going to take months to complete anyways. Grad school is probably a pretty safe bet, and I feel pretty good about it, but assuming that the Monbusho thing doesn't work out I basically need to take a year and genuinely research my options in depth, whereas I was supposed to that last year and just.. didn't. Well, whatever.

Potential snags:

1) Graduation. I dunno, this makes me nervous. My thesis has to come through, and the math class, and the info lit class, and nothing can go wrong despite that I'm taking 21 credits and only starting on the goddamn thing now, basically. Well, who knows, maybe pressure will be good.

2) Slow breakdown over the ~$8k loan I'm probably going to take out. THIS IS A BIG NUMBER AND I'M STILL IMPRESSED BY WHEN I HAVE $100 IN MY WALLET.

3) Unknown costs. E.g. I can't predict what my monthly outlay will be in August, because I assume I'll need to start paying off said loan above as well as student loans + credit card debt, etc. Ugh. I do not like it.

4) The unknown, generally. Well, can't predict it, so why worry?

So that's good. It's nice to just have it down somewhere so that I can come back to it and be like ... "oh yeah." Plus it's a continuation of what I posted the other night. One step at a time; the current goal is very simply, graduation. So --> Back to work.
