There should be a procedure in place by which you can challenge a mark on the basis of unfairness. Usually it involves a written submission explaining your objections, but check with your department.
If the guy's an asshole there's probably not too much you can do about it - especially if he's tenured. So you get through the course as best you can. It is possible to challenge the grade, but you better have your ducks in a row and a very good case.
You might be better off to just hunker down and get through it as best you can.
One thing I've realized is thet many prof's never get taught to teach. They just get their degree and then are assumed to be able to teac the stuff.
Also simple, straightforward questions about course material and the like might be able to avoid his humiliation-attempts. Then again, if he's a big enough asshole, nothing will escape his stupidity.
On the test issue, do people point out the omitted words in the test? If so, does he correct the questions? If he refuses to, then the class needs to complain to someone such as the head of the department ASAP. However, if he does correct them, that is indeed annoying and adding more stress to the tests, but it is manageable.

Is there anyone you can form a study group with?
