So, my program lets undergraduates teach 1-credit classes, and I'm thinking about doing one next semester. Is this a bad idea? I can't quite decide...

My major is social theory/economics. I'm definitely looking at it as a way to get some experience TAing, because I'm probably going to grad school in Europe so might not get a lot there (which will complicate my life if I ever come back to the US and want to throw my hat into the academic ring.) But mostly, it's a subject I'm pretty passionate about and I think it's something I'd enjoy teaching. My biggest concern is constructing a usable syllabus and actually being able to teach the class. (Not that my university-mates tend to be particualrly disrespectful or anything, but it is a concern.)

I wish my university would to that!

I think mine is the only major at my university that lets you do it, it's a weird, weird major (like, there's only 4 classes actually in the major, everything else comes from elsewhere, and you can choose to do things like an internship on the department planning committee.) It's one of the reasons I chose it though. The other, admittedly, was cheap tuition.

It's weird; I've only heard of grad students doing it.

I think I've seen one other person that did it here, but yeah, it's weird.
