Today at work, while I was playing with one of the toddlers, I picked her up and swung her around really fast. When I stopped spinning her, I was putting her down and she threw her head back hard and quick and hit me right in the bridge of my nose.
My eyes instantly started to water and I could feel the blood start to gush out of it. Luckily, I was close to a box of Kleenex, so I put the toddler down as fast as I could, grabbed a handful of tissues and shoved them under my nose, and then checked the toddler's head to make sure she was okay (which was difficult, since I couldn't see really well at the time).
Luckily, our break person hadn't left yet, so when I yelled her name, she was able to come running in to watch the kids so I could go deal with my nose. The toddler was completely fine, with no marks or bruises or anything on her head, which was my main concern.
However, after I made sure that she was okay, I then became fully aware of the blinding pain shooting through my nose and into my cheeks, eyes, and forehead. Ow! It took a good 15 minutes for the bleeding to completely subside, and when it finally did, I was then able to survey the damage to my poor nose. The right side had already started swelling and bruising and the left side wasn't far behind it.
Now, I don't know what it feels like to have your nose broken and I'm sure that since it's not sitting sideways or anything that there's no way to tell without an X-ray, and although I doubt that it is actually broken, I'd really like to know if my nose is okay. I've got a really bad cold right now, and so I'm still having to blow my nose a lot, which hurts like a freakin' bitch every time I have to do it and there' still a little blood coming out when I blow it. My glasses hurt just sitting on my nose (speaking of which, it's a damn good thing I decided to wear my contacts today, because I almost didn't...this whole thing would have been a whole lot worse with my glasses on) and even when I take them off to put ice on my face, it still hurts. :(
This whole thing is really funny though. :) I've had my nose possibly broken by a toddler. :) We decided though that I need a better battle story though, especially if I wake up in the morning with a swollen, bruised nose and a black eye. And if it's still like that when I go to work again on Tuesday, I could just tell them that I got hit by a ball while I'm working at the Mariners store during the game on Monday.
