updating from work

So, situation maybe you can help me with.

There are three stray kittens in the parking lot of my workplace that have climbed up into the engine of someone's car. We're trying to get them out, but they're hiding from us.

Can anyone help? We don't know what to do.

Maybe try to lure them out with some food they can smell?

This, and dismiss everyone but a single person. If they feel crowded/scared, they'll hide more.

This is going to take some patience. The kittens won't come out till they feel safe. But they will eventually. Food, low pressure, and quiet should do it. Try canned tuna fish.

Been there, the kitten has been with us well over a year now.

First, identify the owner of the car and be sure they don't start it.

Find an animal lover with the longest, skinniest, arms you can. (I'm not kidding, they will NOT come out with people around, and if you leave it overnight they might well leave, but then where would they be?)

Talking to them won't help much, but any speech should be soft and high-pitched. Less people may be better. If they are little kittens, pulling them out by the skin on the back of the neck won't hurt them, they expect that, and it is unlikely that they will cling to anything to the point of injury.

You might also contact the local humane society, if you have a cat rescue in town, that would be better.

Good luck, and thank you for your concern for them,
L

Mama cats make a trilling noise that sounds like "Mrrt? Mrrt?" If you can mimic it, it will calm them down and they might come to it.

THAT. Their moms talk to them to call them out and it works really well with wee ones.

I suggest a hose. They won't much like being doused, but it's way better than the alternative.

Yeah, pretty much an animal-lover with a nice, gentle voice and some food should do it.
