Lost my job just in time for Thanksgiving

I'm home early from my day job today and updating LJ because...well, I'm not going to have a day job come Nov. 30. Or health benefits. Or the ability to put my also out of work partner on my insurance. This was upsetting enough to learn at work that we all agreed it would be best if I went home for the rest of the day ( Read more... )

You might try advertising yourself as a resume editor, as well, especially on college campuses and on Craig's List.

Oh, Jo. I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope that you completely wow them when you reapply for the new job role and that you're back to work right away.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be applying :(. They need my receptionist job to become an administrative assistant position and I just don't have the skill set for that. This job was difficult enough for me as it was. :(

Aw. Doubleplussuckage there. Though, if I may toss in some unsolicited advice, I've generally done well by taking a job in a known environment that's a stretch for my existing skills. If you like where you're working, and find the work interesting enough, I'd say go for it. If they are a good employer, they should know you well enough to know if they feel confident that you could step up and do the job.
