Nothing to Hide
Mary doesn't need to hide anything from her husband.
She never dresses in front of him. The main advantage of breakfast in bed is the half an hour she gets to spend alone with her mirror. Others probably think she's just enjoying the laziness and the novelty, and Mary smiles beautifully when they suggest it.
She may lie to everyone else, but never to herself.
It takes a while to dress without Anna's help, but sometimes Mary prefers to be completely alone. When she's alone, she can do it right, slowly put on her stockings and arrange the petticoat the way she likes it. Perfection requires effort, and Mary likes to feel perfect.
She likes it when everyone knows she's perfect.
Then she sits in front of the mirror and carefully puts on her smile, arranges her face the way she likes it, every line exactly where it should be. It doesn't matter if anyone comes in. All they'd see would be Mary combing her hair before she puts it up.
Mary doesn't need to hide anything from her husband.
