Two words: the book. And from what I heard, in the book Damon can actually turn into this crow XD. I try to treat it like a comic relief, especially in this scene when Elena is sitting next to a headstone, and the fog just appears from nowhere.

This is why I cringe every time I try to make a friend watch this show. I'm always like 'I AM AWARE OF HOW BAD THE FIRST FEW EPISODES ARE. I PROMISE.'

The story of my life ;). "IT GETS GOOD AT 1x06, JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE!". With BtVS I usually just tell people to watch 2x03 in order to see if they enjoy the show, but with TVD plot this trick just doesn't work XD.
