I will be back later when I'm not at university to comment on this, but:

Elena: You're right. Facts are facts, so listen up. You may be my father, but I am never going to be your daughter. You got that?

I LOVE THIS MOMENT SO MUCH. SO MUCH.

FLAWLESS MORALLY DUBIOUS PRINCESS.

So instead can we talk about an 18yo girl who manages to outwit an Original vampire and tie her interests with his so that she's protected? She takes the leverage she has, and she makes the most of it.

She is utterly brilliant at this, isn't she? She's a human teenager surrounded by the supernatural, who manages to turn the tables on more powerful creatures and get things done. And yes - so many of her plans are reckless because she doesn't care (or doesn't think she cares) that they'll be close brushes with death - as long as it achieves her goal.

Elena knows that life doesn't stop just because something bad happens to you. She knows it, and at times it makes her force herself to get her shit together - but sometimes, it also gives her something to hold on to. No matter how terrible things are, there will always be a spark of light, Bonnie Bennett floating feathers and grinning like an idiot, because feathers floating around Elena's head are just so beautiful. It's such a visually gorgeous moment ( ... )

SHE IS JUST SO WONDERFUL, ISN'T SHE???

YES. Because she feels she lives on borrowed time anyway. Her life was just a debt she had to repay. Everyone else deserves to live, but she had her chance, and now her life is worth only as much as the lives it can save.

I love Elena when she let's herself go and say exactly what she's thinking, no holds barred -- it just feels so real.

John and Damon are the only people Elena allows herself to be angry with. It's all sorts of fascinating *__*

That scene from 2x10 is one of my favorite D/E visuals! Which is probably why it got stuck in my head so much.

Thanks for reading and commenting <3333333

reposting in the right place, duh...

I do love most of these scenes a ridiculous amount for what you're illustrating about them--though I might trade in scene #1 for the later scene in that episode when Elena further explains it to Damon: why do you all get to save me, but I never get to save YOU? simply because I love that she wants to be that strong, and she's doing everything in her power to preserve the people she loves.

On the other hand, I'm SHOCKED, shocked, I say, that there are no scenes from 3x14 here. But I love the one from 4x06. I'd probably have two scenes from 4x06 on my list, the Katherine part, but also the scene with her in-her-head!mom. That's probably my #1, if I had to make my own list.

Also, I need to rewatch 4x15 more carefully--it's one of those I haven't been able to watch more than twice because it's so painful, but you're right about that scene in particular. It's finally Elena expressing some anger over what Meredith did to her, and it's long overdue by that point.

Frankly, those two scenes sort of boil into one big scene in my head? The one I chose for #1 is in the post, because I'm just so in love with a visual, but when it comes to meaning, I tend to treat them both as one.

On the other hand, I'm SHOCKED, shocked, I say, that there are no scenes from 3x14 here. They didn't fit for me. I automatically put a scene from 3x14 on an every D/E list I make, but for Elena herself, it seems like there were many more important moments. I guess 3x14 is more of a Damon moment for me ( ... )

*drools over your pretty meta*

It's too late for intelligent thought, but I'll say this; I loved reading this on tumblr, and I love it even more with the pictures, and the whole thing is flawless.

Although Elena is flawless, in her most awesomely flawed fashion, so of course it is.

Especially that last scene, though. Elena and death. It's the most fascinating aspect of her character, maybe, and that's saying a lot. It's so perfectly fragmented, and horribly screwed up, and sad above all else. Ugh.

All the Elena feelings, now. :((((* Just what I needed before I go to bed.

*but also :))))

You're getting drool all over my journal ;).

I apologize for the Elena feelings, but then, they're kinda not my fault. SHE JUST DOES THAT TO PEOPLE. THAT'S HOW FLAWLESS SHE IS :(((((((((((.

Thank you <33333
