You know this place of quiet rocks, where the rain falls torrential and loud. Empties out the sky and wrings itself out.
You don't know how you know, or why. Only that you've made tracks here and the rocks are keeping you here with their silence. Their weight. And the scent of earth and growing things that you can wrap around yourself, breathe in,

Relief, guilt, joy. They're all mangled because it's hard to let go of the freezing rage that has been keeping Minato focused since Madara's grotesque display.
It's definitely Kakashi, because as the Hitomi has proven time and time again, it doesn't broadcast lies. Only Kakashi could have dreamed this, so it has to be him.
And yet.
There's suspicion, too. Because Kakashi, who's so entrenched in the past, who has defined his very life from the basis of that fateful day--Kakashi would never forget Obito.
Never.
Something is horribly wrong.]
Kakashi. [Minato's voice is cautious. Is it really you? You're alive. What has Madara done? Where are you?]
Are you alright?

Kakashi is starting despise Konoha for its tactics. The way they try to get under your skin and into your heart.
Psychological warfare.
He stares at this man blankly.
And hangs up. ]

Then he immediately calls back, mind racing and chasing all sorts of explanations. This is not normal. At all.
Kakashi, even at his angriest, would never just hang up on Minato like this.]
Kakashi! What's going on? [The caution is gone, replaced by a more urgent feeling.]

It won't work.
[ Hangs up. ]

It's Kakashi.
He doesn't want to accept this. Wants to close his eyes and plug his ears because if this is true then Madara...
Oh...Kakashi...
No, don't think of it. A shinobi's life is never simple, and the mercy of death not always what the most deserving receive.
Itachi has to accept this.
Because this is Kakashi.
And that means there is hope.
It has been a long time since Itachi last felt it as he does now.
Kakashi is alive.]

Iruka was breathless. Happy.]
Sensei?
[Iruka couldn't believe it because those feelings couldn't have been fake. One couldn't fake ... hope. Or was it hope? It felt like hope. Iruka didn't know. Iruka didn't care because the only thing that mattered was that the man was alive.
The smile that came to his face was a shaky one, because even if he could feel 'hope' he couldn't stop the feeling of ... what was it? There was something odd.
But he did it, Sharingan Kakashi prevailed once more. He was alive. He made it through that! Right?
Right?]
Kakashi-sensei! What's taking you so long?!

They just keep coming.
Kakashi's almost certain, positive: this is an attack. Psychological, at best. But still an attack.
He narrows his eye.
And hangs up. ]

He tried again and this time, he doesn't hold back. Because if Kakashi can answer his call, and can risk sounds being emanated from the Hitomi, then that meant the man was in a 'safe' place to 'talk'. Or something.
That he wasn't risking his location to the enemy ... wherever the hell he was. The fool!]
You! You've got some balls hanging up like that! At least give a sign that you're okay, that you're not hurt! Or something! People are waiting for you here, you idiot! [And his voice cracks just a bit because he was so relieved that Kakashi was alive - breathing! And not just a head .... with an empty eye socket.] Come back already! Come home, please! They're waiting! Do you need back up? Help? Anything?

It's all weighing down on Anko, crushing her under its weight, squeezing her until she can taste blood at the back of her throat. ]
Ka-
[ It's not blood. It's just salt. Tears, she realizes, hot tears winding snake tracks down her cheeks. ]
Kakashi-
[ He's alive.
He's alive.
He's alive.
Konoha is alive. ]
Kakashi, you--
[ Tears choke off her throat completely, and she is unable to continue. ]

This woman, she is crying. Kakashi does not know what she is crying for or why. He thinks maybe she wants him to believe she is crying for him. As though he is something that can or should be cried over when he is not even a person. People cry for people, not for weapons.
So Kakashi frowns at this woman.
This act.
How very theatrical, he thinks.
He hangs up. ]

...he hung up on her.
Okay, so it would be one thing to say something curt and then hang up, like he's too busy, which would be logical. Or even to look like "I wish I could contact you but I'm being watched," something understandable like that.
But he looked at her like she was an annoyance, like something utterly beneath him, like...
Like someone completely useless.
Like he doesn't even recognize her.
And her tears are forgotten in the wake of a more welcome and familiar emotion: being pissed off.
So she calls him back. ]
YOU FUCKING HUNG UP ON ME, ASSHAT!
What, like me giving a damn isn't good enough for you? You go and get captured and we all think you're dead but you're not, and it's such a hardship to have to listen to us care about you? You fucking piece of crap!
[ Hard breathing. It's better to be angry than worried, because she didn't like the look in his eyes. At all. ]

Wa tempted to just hang up mid-rant, but doesn't think that'll get him anywhere. They have proven to be persistent and obstinately stubborn. ]
Your comrades have already tried to convince me.
[ His voice is flat. ]
Drop the act. I'm not going to fall for your lies.
