[He sounds off, like strange and annoyed and weirded out of his mind - his mind. Yes, it's driving him crazy hitting all the blanks because now that he's aware of it. It's driving him out of his mind. And then there's that portrait on top of everything else.]
Kakashi-sensei, I'm sorry to be bothering you like this but if you hear this ...
[His voice starts off with a hysterical tinge to it.]
People are saying strange things about us. That w-we were together? Is this true? Because I can't remember anything and Naruto, and Sakura and Akira and I don't even know who else - what is this? And it's all about you and I don't even know where to start because I don't know anything about you, we don't even talk that much! And

Kakashi.... happy thirtieth.
[The smile is small and warm, sincere but lacking its usual vibrancy; he's worried, and it's obvious, the way it always is. He can't give him anything but a message this year, anything but a remote hand on his back--I remember. I notice. I care. You still have a place here--you do belong.]
I'll owe you a present when you get back, or at least a drink--we're all waiting for you, you know. We miss you. Konoha isn't the same now, this empty....
[But this isn't a call to guilt him, whatever it might sound like--Gai is worried, but he doesn't know what Kakashi is going through. Only can guess at the turmoil that his Eternal Rival must be going through, knowing that Iruka.... well. Iruka isn't very happy either, even if he doesn't seem to fully understand what happened. Gai has his suspicions, but....]
[He shakes himself from such depressive thoughts, smiling encouragingly at the Hitomi. How exactly do you grab someone by the shoulders and demand if they have any idea how much they're worrying you, when you
( ... )
[ He doesn't address anything else that Gai said, and it's too easy for him to read all the concern on Gai's face. He doesn't really think it should be there -- doesn't deserve it. Not after all that's happened. Not with how much he failed them all.
Gai remembered his birthday when even Kakashi had forgotten.
Thirty.
He doesn't even really know what he's done with his life. ]
Training? [Gai's eyebrows lift in surprise, and a little dismay; training could mean anything, from meditating under a waterfall trying to gain enlightenment, to subjecting yourself to some rigorous survival test, to wearing out your body with grueling physical tasks.... That's not good at all. If he really is training, then he ought to at least be supervised--he doesn't exactly look happy. He doesn't even sound happy, and when he can't even be bothered to sound happy, then they have a problem.]
[Naturally, it's up to him to do that; he smiles wider, video feed swaying as he rocks back on his heels.] Well then, you should come back to use some of these empty practice fields! Or I could come out to you! Training in pairs is much more effective. Where are you, Kakashi?
Week 5, day 6smiling_uminoDecember 14 2009, 08:45:51 UTC
[It's been a few days since he's seen Kakashi's place. With the crux of his illness pretty much stabilized - and fucking defeated, the insufferable bastard, Iruka still wants to plant his foot down his throat for scaring all of them that way - Kakashi, as he knows it, is ... around. Awake.
Alive.
Getting better!
Iruka doesn't know if anyone's dropped in yet and well, he just hits up the Hitomi without really thinking twice.]
Hey, uhm ...
[He sounds unsure, like he's walking on eggshells. He might as well have been, really.]
How are you? Are you taking care of yourself?
[A pause.]
Properly?
[Another knowing pause.]
I really mean, properly.
[Iruka scowls at himself. What the hell is he doing? He should just go and take a peek himself instead of dawdling like this.]
[ For Kakashi to properly take care of himself would assume that Kakashi knows how to. His general MO when it comes to injury and illness is to sleep through it until he wakes up and find himself all better. Unfortunately, this particular illness didn't make it very easy. Getting up out of bed is hard enough.
Bothering to cook?
Nearly an impossible task, so Kakashi makes do with what he can find and spends most of his time in bed. Sleeping. And that much is obvious with the way he's squinting wearily through the screen of the Hitomi. ]
[ He frowns a little as he tries to remember if he ate at all, blearily remembering some broth from the night before and a little porridge Gai had left behind and enthusiastically insisted that he try, which tasted like a whole lot nothing and felt like hell.
It's hard to get enthusiastic about eating when food still disagrees with his system. ]
[Week 7, Day 1 - Action through out] Post nightmare eventsmiling_uminoMarch 18 2010, 06:03:17 UTC
[Iruka stirs a bit from the corner of the futon where he is lying on his side, sprawled carelessly, arms spread on the tatami floor. He must have moved in the middle of the night, now lying amidst warm sheets and the rays of the afternoon sun permeating through the windows.
The cool breeze that blows in makes him shift a bit more, reaching over to his side and feeling the sheets and a solid body that he instantly knows and recognizes subconsciously; he rolls over, moaning a bit and still feeling a little stiff with exhaustion and heavy from sleep.
But he's pressing against the body a bit more, legs tangling and fingers feeling the familiar topography of scars. He briefly remembers wet hair and wet skin and food that he didn't even taste and a kiss that he could still feel at the tip of his tongue.
Iruka knows it's fairly late, that he just missed the entire morning; lips slack in a loose smile however as he press a sleepy kiss to whatever surface of skin he can reach with his current position --
[ Kakashi stirs and groans softly at the feeling of searching fingers and lips pressed against his neck, at the heat of Iruka's body against his own, and he lazily winds an arm around his lover's body, nuzzling a kiss into soft hair before he stills again. He's exhausted from the entire ordeal of gods and monsters and being chased out of their own home, the world split open and destroyed before it was remade again. And sleep has eluded him for so many days, his body pushed to the very limits
( ... )
[He inhales deeply and hums softly at the contact. He does not dream when he's this exhausted, when he's close to the one thing that he can call his and home. When he knows it is safe and there is nothing to weigh down his subconscious mind, make his heart race, look over his shoulder, make him afraid.
No, this is home and all scars tainted in orange, like the setting sun outside. Eyes open a sliver and fingers that were resting somewhere on Kakashi's side curls as he inhales again.]
Mmnn ...
[He yawns which starts off and ends with a sigh and a murmur of his lover's name; a greeting, if anything, voice still raspy and thick with sleep.]
[ Kakashi smiles against Iruka's skin, pressing a kiss lower as his hand travels slowly, ghosting over Iruka's cock as he nestles closer, pressing his body against his side, his cock semi-hard against his hip. His fingers skip over the most sensitive part of Iruka to flatten his palm against his abdomen, slowly letting his hand travel over each rise and dip of muscle, memorizing the topography under his touch. He takes his time with this, with enjoying Iruka's body and feeling the warmth of his skin and being grateful, for once, that they are alive and together and safe in bed with one another.
Kakashi's mouth is slow and lazy as his teeth graze lightly over Iruka's pulse. ]

It was genjutsu, Iruka-sensei. Their memories were tampered with.
[ It's all he says. ]

[Sigh and he's just tired of thinking of something he can't find at all. It's been days.
He's just glad for some sort of closure. Sort of.]
... thank you, Kakashi-sensei. Are you okay?
[Your head, your memories, it's a broad question.]

[ Kakashi drawls. The sound of running water is a hum in the distance. A stream perhaps, or a river. ]
I'm training alone, Gai. No hard feelings or anything, but this is something I need to do on my own.
