*No immediate response from his end. He's still there though. So he's listening, at least.*

Have you come completely out of the dream yet?

*There's a very, very long stretch of silence. And after a while, Kakashi starts to make his way over, feet thumping across the ground as he comes closer. Then he picks up the Dreamberry and glances at the guy in it.

For a moment, he's taken by surprise when he thinks he sees what looks like Sharingan -- pulse surging in shock, thundering loud in his ears, before he realizes a moment later that the tomoes are missing and it's just a deep, crimson red. His expression, however, is completely stoic. Unreadable, even, through the mask.

He lets out a slight breath, a hum of a response that could mean anything to anyone else, but to Kaname could mean I'm not sure. He's tempted to hang up, but he needs to be making connections here, not breaking them.*

....Kakashi....

[Gai's quieter and more serious than he's been in a while, voice and face etched with concern; he remembers, and it definitely didn't happen like that. Wasn't supposed to. He'd like to invite himself over to make sure Kakashi's okay, but it's only a nightmare.... But it would be terrible to say and do nothing at all. So for once he remains silent, gazing at the screen almost mournfully; his expression is open and empathic, a clear but unspoken "I'm here for you." that, almost alienly, doesn't intrude.]

*But Kakashi can't see his face -- the Dreamberry is on the floor, ceiling filling the screen. There's a long, long moment of silence.*

I'm fine, Gai. *His voice sounds quiet. Maybe it's because of the distance between him and the Dreamberry.*

[He knows, but what else can he do?]

.....That hardly looked fine.

[Again, he wants to go help, somehow. But what can he do? And he probably shouldn't even try.... It's not like nightmares never happened at home, probably, just that he never got to see them before. Still..... he hates doing nothing.]

*There's a sigh. And then the sound of sheets rustling, a bed creaking, then the thump thump thump of footsteps before Kakashi picks up the Dreamberry and looks at it. He just looks tired.*

It's called a nightmare. It happens. *Pauses* I'm fine. Really. *He's practically monotoning out the words.*

[Cloud's face at once shows concern and irritation as the call connects]

..The hell is this, Kakashi?

*Uh, yeah, sorry, no response, Cloud. At least, no immediate one.*

.. You wanna explain that?

*he looks like perhaps he regrets the tone of his earlier words, a little -- the slant of his shoulders weakening a little with an audible exhalation*

Is everything okay?

*There's the sound of footsteps approaching, and then the Dreamberry shifts. Fingers close around the screen before it's tilted and Kakashi's face fills it.*

It's fine. *There's a bit of a pause* It was just a dream.

*He's a little surprised anyone can pick up on that from his dream. The Dreamberry's now closer to him, and no longer on the floor. It takes a moment before he actually answers, tilting the Dreamberry slightly until he sees Snake. Remembering him from the mission he'd taken to Naomi's a little while back.

He stares at Snake for a moment, then hums in response, noncommittal.*

When I started, or in the dream?

*His eyes are wide for just a split second. It flutters away with a blink, hiding behind a gaze that's a touch wary, more than a little something else. He's not one for words at all. He has no idea what he should say, what would be appropriate to say.

It'd be almost amusing, Kakashi's futile attempt to destroy the Dreamberry -- he's done it more than a couple dozen times himself -- had the dreamnightmare not settled so heavily with guiltpanicfear trembling through the tips of his fingers, wrapping around his awareness, drowning.

It's only a dream. It's not real until it happens. And this, it won't happen because--* Uchiha *--I--* won't die that easily. *Even though they can; even though Uchiha Obito did; even though the light of his entire fucking clan was snuffed out so easily on the wick they stood.

But it's all he can offer Kakashi right now.*

*Sasuke's voice is jarring from where it crackles, cutting into him in a flash that drags up that image again -- wide red and black eyes swirling in shock and pain and dismay and--

Kakashi takes a breath and stomps the image out, then gets up and walks over to the Dreamberry, picking it up. His fingers come across the screen as it shakes, the world tilting and shifting before he turns it around, and carefully (because if he isn't careful about this, Sasuke might see too much) directs a look down.

He can't help the sudden softening and simultaneous tightening of his eye when he catches sight of the boy.*

...you shouldn't have seen that. *He says after a long moment. Quietly.*

*Catches the way Kakashi's expression changes, surprisingly easier to see when he knows what to look for. That slant of his brow, his eye -- Kakashi tends to look at him like this, a lot, too much, it's--

Ironic. He should be feeling more guilt than Kakashi, but regret is something he's learned to (trying to) live without.*

I know. *And there's a faint touch of apology in his voice -- not for seeing it, but for witnessing Kakashi when his guard is down. Ninja prided themselves in keeping their weaknesses away from prying eyes, away from even themselves, but with the Dreamberry, well...

Sasuke quirks a brow, looking pointedly down at his own screen. There are a lot of things they shouldn't be seeing, that people shouldn't have the privilege to see. But the boundaries are void here. There's no changing that.*

Dog, huh? *Can't say he's surprised.*

*Kakashi forces himself to smile. It's easier this way, his eye arcing into a perfect arch as his lips move up in shade just a tilt. But a smile nonetheless. He hums in confirmation.

His code name was Wolf. But Sasuke doesn't need to know that.*

Not as cute as Pakkun though...
